Default Tint

I got my windows tinted today. Formula One Stratos. The driver side looks good, for the most part, the passenger side does as well. There is one bubble with what appears to be a speck of dirt under it that is kind of annoying to look at and is now catching my eye every time I glance over. How much contaminant is acceptable? It is really just this one spot. The rest of the small bubbles I am sure will go away as it cures. Very hard to get a pic unless I put something else in view to shift the camera focus, and even then it doesn't come out too well. Should I take it back? Or leave it as is?

you have to wait about 7 days for everything to clear. That's normal.

Yeah, I know the little water bubbles are normal, this one has dirt in it.

Contact your tint installer and consult with them. They’re probably going to advise you to wait a week or two and then come back. The important thing is to bring it up ASAP. If you want 6 months and then decide you can’t stand it anymore, they’ll probably tell you tough luck.

How much would you say is acceptable? I’d had to take it back if one spot is being too unreasonable. My last truck didn’t have any, Same shop, just want to be fair.

If it's dirt then I would want it fixed. If it's not far out of the way drop by and let them look. Even if they say to give it a week or two you will have brought it up sooner rather than later. Every tint shop around here offers some type of warranty and I bet yours does too.

Just stop by and ask the person who installed it. If they say yup it is dirt and I will have to fix it great, if they say wait 7 days then wait 7 days and see. We can say "I would demand it be fixed or anything an Internet keyboard prince wants", but in the end it is your truck if you are not happy with the job then go back be nice and ask for them to take a look at it. You are the king in your kingdom don't pass that off to anybody.

How much is between you and the installer. It would be in your best interests to bring this up early. This is no different than rejecting a car from a body shop when you find a run in the paint they just sprayed. If you wait several weeks, they’ll brush you off. If you bring attention to it immediately, you have a better chance of getting it fixed.

A close friend of mine owns and runs a high end tint shop. They would a)never have let it leave this way, b)on the off chance that this somehow happened, they would replace that sheet of film.

Give it a few days and it may go away. If it doesn't, then take it back and have them repair it. Any reputable tint shop will make it right.
