Default Thoughts for a future 'Lightning'

OK, so we have the Tremor in 2014 trucks and maybe there will be a version of it in the 2015 or 2016 model, and with a tune it surely is a beast.

But what about a RCSB, AWD using the flat plane crank 5.2 they are putting in the 2016 Mustang GT350? I know, I know, no low end torque, not good for a truck, blah, blah. But how many Lightning owners haul heavy loads or tow (can you even tow with them?). A RCSB F150 weighs probably 600lb more than a Mustang....

Only reason I mention it is it would be another vehicle Ford could sell to recoup some of the R&D cost of developing the 5.2.

If a 6.2 is coming back, it's for the raptor. Even at that, I highly doubt it, because people are begging for a high output ecoboost. They're better off with a high output 5.0 or a supercharged version in my opinion. The 5.2 sounds like a good idea, but more than likely will be exclusive for the Mustang GT350.

I'd love to see a raptor with an ecoboost and a Lighting with a 5L ecoboost hell yeah lol

If anybody at Ford Corporate had the stones to put out a 5.0 "Eco", I think that thing would be sold out from day one. So long as they use every success and failure from the design of the 3.5 in its run so far I think it would be a solid motor all the way around. I would probably get killed by my wife as I would be one of the many people screaming at the dealership "TAKE MY MONEY!" Lmao. It's probably a pipe dream though. Just like the return of the Bronco. It's good to dream though right?

Just put the 5.2 Voodoo engine with the 10 speed auto. They will sell very well.

A 2015 RCSB with 5.0 & 3.55's should as quick or quicker than a gen 2 lightning. It really would not be hard to come up with a new version of the L. The Tremor was very different than the lightning, and overpriced. That's why it didn't sell. If they do a new L, they should do a more basic version (think Ram Express) and a Luxury package to add on (similar to the Tremor) all while maintaining a real V8 (hopefully over 500HP). They would sell huge numbers if they did this. A low cost and a Lux version.
