Thoughts on Audio Upgrade
So, I have a new 2015 XLT with the non-Sony 4.3 screen audio system. I am planning out my audio upgrade and have the following plan. Goal is to maintain stock head unit and I have a tight budget (wife is not sure why I have to upgrade the stereo on a brand new truck). So I have the Parrot harness to tap into the factory wiring without having the cut into it. From there I will run 2 speed wire runs from head unit to behind the rear seat. I will install the Boss PV3700 5 channel amp using the high level inputs to power back to the door speakers and to power the sub. For the Sub I am looking at an Infinity Reference 8" sub in a truck box that will fit behind the rear seat. I would replace the door speakers with either Infinity Reference 6x9s or 6.5 components fabing an adapter for the 6.5s in the door and placing the tweets in the stock pillar location. Total cost for the amp, sub, sub box, and door speakers is about $290 from Amazon, so not bad. For now I would leave the rear door speakers. The thought is to add a Cleansweep or Audiocontrol LCQ1 when budget allows, but that would be easy with the speedwire run to the back already to install the DSP next to the amp.

I had a similar set up in my 2011 and coming from that install if you want to add a sound processor, do it now. I had a no cut harness wired to speed wire that ran into an LCQ6 from there RCA to to JL amps. The processor just gives a nice flat signal to the amps. I ended up getting mine from crutchfield on open box for around $100.
I like the idea, I would certainly make every effort for a round speaker in the doors. Especially if you're the type who is picky about what they hear. You'll get less mid-low end from a round speaker but it will sound significantly less muddy. And of course, getting tweeters up top will be an instant upgrade. I'm not familiar with the brands you mention but I would suggest building a custom sub box if you are on a budget and have the tools. $20 sheet of MDF, $7 glue and some small tack nails and you have a custom fit. I went this route and love the sound quality and fits under the seat perfectly of my 05 Scab.
I would try for a 10 inch sub though. 8's are good for punchy hits (think kick drum) but poor for tone (think walking bass line).
All the best!

I wouldn't bother with an 8" sub. You're not going to get much depth or loudness out of that, especially if you're running it off a 5-channel amp. Rockford Fosgate makes a great 12" shallow mount sub designed for 5-channel amps and it fits well under your back seat. It's about $130 and it will sound quite a bit better than the 8" model you're looking at.

I just went through the same upgrade on my 4.2 non-sony. My recommendations are leave the oem speakers for now, just run more power to them with the amp you were planning and your 8" sub. You will be pleasantly suprised that the oem speakers clear up and can handle a fair amount of power. If you don't like it or blow them adding too much power.....then buy some aftermarkets. Still don't like it.....add the processor.
Some will disagree but for myself proclaimed tin ear I think it sounds amazing and I saved a few bucks on components for the moment.
