Thermostat error code CEL @ 600 miles
My engine light came on this afternoon, only 600 miles in the less than a month that I've had it. 2016 XLT SCrew 4x4. Sitting in the dealership waiting area at the moment, waiting to hear from the service folks. Ugh. More later.

No other symptoms, just the light when I started it today. The code was a thermostat error, apparently not fully opening/closing for some reason, but not sticking to the point of overheating problems. I didn't notice anything unusual with the temp gauge display, which I do pay attention to. They needed to order the part, so I'll take it back early next week to replace, will keep an eye on the temp gauge in the mean time.
Reporting back on this thread with updates...
After reading and clearing the original thermostat code, the dealer ordered the part for the following week. I drove the truck until then with no CEL reappearing. The thermostat was replaced on Wednesday, last week. On Friday, the CEL came back, so I returned to the dealer that day. They ran the diagnostic, confirmed it was the same code, and then I asked them to clear it again. I'm planning to drive it for the time being to see if the CEL returns, but not bring it back in again until/unless the CEL shows again. It's been clear for three days now. Total miles on the truck ~750.

Quick update again... the CEL light came back on yesterday, three days after the code was last cleared, which is now the third time. I dropped it back off at the dealer service this afternoon, and they're planning to contact the Ford tech "hot line" -- their phrase -- to explain the issue and determine next steps. So far, the CEL has come on three times, presumably all for a thermostat fault, with the thermostat replaced after the first fault. They put me in a dealer loaner today, so they can hold the truck while they troubleshoot the CEL.
Edit: I forgot confirm with the service guys, but believe the error code is PO125. I'll ask next time I go back, but am adding here in case others happen to search for that code in the archives.

I found this that may be of interest.

A code P0125 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Insufficient warm up time Low engine coolant level Leaking or stuck open thermostat Faulty coolant temperature sensor

Wonder if it is a coolant temp sensor?

Service called this afternoon let me know that they have some concerns with the the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor. The mechanic said it doesn't seem to tighten adequately so won't seat right -- alluded to possibly stripped threads or such, causing it to spin rather than seat. I'd found a few old threads here that talked about the CHT as a possible culprit, so wasn't surprised. I did say that if there are a problem with any stripped threads, let's all hope they're on the sensor and not the cylinder where it mounts.
More next week after they get a new sensor in to install...
