I will be 50 next month. I've driven close to 1.5 MILLION miles over my lifetime, and haven't ever had a flat.

Not sure why you'd ever worry about the spare, other than to occasionally check to see that it has *any* air pressure in it.

My 2004 Titan had a full size spare on a matching aluminum wheel. Didn't have a sensor in the spare though. It also had grocery bag hooks in the back seat.

BUT... It also got barely half the mpg of my new truck. I could go on and on about things that made each one better, but when it comes to the big things the F150 is awesome. If it's that important to you, buy a matching wheel and tire. People are selling take off's every day.

I have had one Chevy C10 back in the 80's it left me stranded at least three times. I bought an F150 and have had ever model since. I am not trying to say anything is wrong with the truck. I just said I dislike not having the spare tire match and have a TPMS. Not trying to say anything is wrong. As for flats I have had several since I moved into OH.

Mine has a matching tire for the spare, but a different wheel.

I hate doing 5 tire rotations, it's just extra work for no gain.

When you wear out the tires then what? Buy 5 more? You can't buy 4 new ones and continue to rotate one worn out one with them. So you have 4 new tires and a worn out spare.

But I do them at work. If you want to pay me to do something that doesn't make sense and is harmless like this, I'll do it.

Why not use a good rim and do 5 tire rotations and all the tire wear pretty even.
I agree a 5-tire rotation would be beneficial. I used to do that on a first generation Hyundai Santa Fe, and yes, when the tires wore out I bought a new set of 5.

However it is more costly/time consuming for the dealership or tire shop to process the 5-tire rotation, a lot of owners never rotate tires at all, and the initial cost to Ford to add a matching spare wheel and tire would not result in more market share and sales, And, it would be useless to those who immediately switch to aftermarket tires and wheels as soon as they get their truck home.

OP manufactures know where they can save a buck and people won't notice or care. You are probably the 1/100,000 of F150 owners that care and because of that Ford will short change you because they can save a bit of money. Everyone sits here saying "who cares, who cares" eh that might be true but it's not like having a full size spare causes squeaking (hint hint leather). It just saves money.

Your best option is to hit up ebay, buy a spare matching wheel and tire. It's inconvenient, but that's the only option.

OP a final note is to pick and choose you battles with complaints. While the majority of the members here are nice there is also a large majority that is so defensive of Ford and the almighty F150 that you would believe they worship the company. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice truck but when you charge over 50K for these trucks (and we all know they make a killing) they are putting themselves in the price category of cars that are sometimes quite luxurious.

True but IMHO the day a truck doesn't come with a spare is the day it stops being a working man's vehicle because now you are dependent upon someone to bring you a spare and change it.
