Default Is there a reason not to do the tsb for the hard 5 to 4 shift.

I thought I had saw on here but couldn't find it again where people weren't going to have this done and I was wondering why not before I have mine done on friday.

If my truck wasn't doing it, I wouldn't want a dealer to crack open my factory sealed transmission.

It's just a reflash. They don't physically open up the tranny..

Well either way, I live by if it's not broke, don't fix it. I shouldn't have been so exact.

My transmission is shifting much nicer after having it done.

I had it done and I was not feeling a problem in the first place but I must say the transmission does feel smother now.

Updated calibrations usually address multiple issues, not just a specific issue that may be causing a concern. I would always recommend updating to the latest calibration.

This exactly!

All 2015 F-150 transmissions are controlled by software. As Ford refines the software and gets it to perform 'better' they roll out software updates. Same goes for other components of your vehicle, SYNC for example.

If there is a new software update, it is tested and is almost always an improvement on an existing software release. I had the flash performed and the truck now shifts just fine... just like it did before 99+% of the time except I haven't had that 1% "clunk" between 5th and 4th at lower speeds.

I can't see a reason to skip this TSB but YMMV.

Sorry Everyone saw the tread and i'm having the same issue here and there. The truck down shifts hard from 5th to fourth. What is everyone doing to remedy this. What is TBS?

TBS is a channel on your cable line up, sorry had to crack a joke. TSB is a technical service bulletin, just go in to your dealer and tell them there is a TSB for the hard downshift (ideally someone can post the TSB number for you as that will be most helpful to point them where they need to go). They should be able to flash it to your truck and get you on your way. Mine doesn't have this issue or I haven't noticed it yet, I usually save this kind of stuff for when I need an oil change and get it done while there.

TSB's are different than recalls, it's basically not safety related, more of an annoyance. Like the cooling seats or lack of, they won't recall it because it doesn't impact the safety of the vehicle, so they do a bulletin to tell the tech's how to remedy it.

Quick Reply: Is there a reason not to do the tsb for the hard 5 to 4 shift.
