This really hits home for me as I only have 3 inches clearance on both mirrors as I go in/out the garage.
I am very careful but sooner or later . . . .
guess I could retract the mirrors . . . .

My elderly mother destroyed the passenger side mirror on her 2011 Subaru Legacy before she quit driving. No damage to the body just the mirror. Found the exact part on car-part for $81 shipped. She was quoted over $500 by the stealer. Definitely worth a try.

my wife has done it twice when she had her Explorer. One day I even commented to her that she was way off to one side parked in the barn and to be careful backing out in the morning. Sure enough I got a phone call later that day...
I actually have a harder time with my mirrors folded. I am backing out blind - the rear view mirror and camera do nothing to tell if I am too close to one side. The key is to pull in perfectly centered and not to touch the wheel when backing out.
one of these days.....

My wife has driven THROUGH the garage door....3 times. First in the DTS we had, at that time, we had 2 doors and brick between them.....not anymore, just have a 17' wide door now, drove trough it when it was halfway up with the f150, got it fixed, did the same thing with her Expedition, this time I beat it flat and put it back up, she whines and cries about how it looks, and we have "insurance" blah blah blah, at this point she's lucky I give her a car to drive, she needs a tank, and she'd break that too....... rant mode off....... sorry.

LOL - My ex also drove through our garage door with the Expedition too. Somehow the trolley release for the opener got stuck in the roof rack, which released it and allowed the door to close about a foot, then she backed into that. To make it worse, this was literally 1 week after we had had the entire garage re-sided and the wood capped with vinyl. I called the guy that did it and he took pity on us and fixed it for $500. All the trim needed to be redone. No insurance claim. Oh and every corner of the Expedition had damage and both sides from getting too close to the edge of the garage door and scraping it down the side. My new wife knows her limitations and won't even attempt to park in the garage she just parks in the driveway. Is it sexist to say women can't drive? Or are we still pretending they can?
