In my phone, a few of my text messages like automated alarms and school stuff I have set to not alert me at all. No noise, no vibrate, no notification of any type. Today I got a text in from one of those contacts and realized the car still alerts me. Is there a way to set an individual alert for a contact within Sync3?

I've had my Android set to "do not disturb" and Sync didn't care.

I deduced the setting is the text messaging app being asked not to alert the phone but isn't smart enough to cancel an alert altogether.

I don't know if I have experienced driving with phone sounds 'off' while connected to SYNC. My phone is disconnected 99.x% of the time anyway so I'm not a good text candidate for an official way to make the SYNC system not alert while maintaining a connection or having text enabled.

Is there a way to see the contacts within the car? I could not find it. All I saw on the contact screen was a way to download the address book but not view or edit that book.

I don't know the answer to this question (if you were asking me).
I don't know if I've downloaded my contact list to SYNC and I do not remember if I've ever used the sync screen to scroll contacts.
I remember calling to check my lodging reservations but that's 1.5 years ago, maybe I used my phone contact screen to find the name then initiated the call which was then carried out through SYNC.

For me, every time I plug-in connect, my contacts sync with my Sync. And yes, I can see contacts (for sure when plugged in)

So I did look at the contacts in the phone list and there are no options for ring/alert tone. So no go. Oh well.

My text app has an option to "mute this conversation". Is that similar to what you have set based on post #1? If it is different, see if your app offers such a thing and try it out. I still think it will be an APP controlled thing, not a phone-to-device thing. Worth a shot at least.

Had the same issue — phone settings blocked certain alerts, but the car still notified me anyway. I didn’t like how clunky it was and found it easier to just adjust things on my phone directly. Felt a bit like choosing between systems — I prefer a reliable sip trunking provider that just works without extra hassle.

Mine works, I receive text messages from my iPhone on Sync 3 all the time. Go into your Bluetooth settings and select your Sync connection and ensure that the allow notifications is selected.

Good luck
