Default Tech Package Questions

I was recently admiring my KR whilst sipping an iced tea (it's 75 degrees here today) and I flashed back to something I noticed while I was taking the clay bar to it this morning...and again while I was waxing it after that...and yet again while I was staring at it through my office window:

The rearview mirror area is pretty intense when looking at it from the outside. I don't have the tech package. So no lane changing vibration, front end crash mitigation or adaptive cruise, etc. However, would it be as simple as a software upgrade (hardware with a button) to upgrade this since my windshield/rearview mirror already seem to have a sensor and camera?

I don't know what else the vehicles with the Tech package would have in terms of hardware. I know there are more sensors on some of the vehicles (same sensors as the ones on the rear bumper) but I thought that was for the auto park. I'm probably wrong but I was curious.

If this has been covered already, I apologize. I no longer look for threads on the 2015 F-150 Forum. If it's not on the first 3 pages, it's irrelevant unless bumped.

Might be easier to accomplish if you just trade it in for a model that has it!

I don't want it. I was just curious about the high tech rearview mirror/windshield crap. Thanks for responding with an answer though.

That area at rearview mirror controls rain sensitive wipers. I don't think it is for crash mitigation or lane changin (I believe that is controlled by the camera mounted just below the Ford medalion on the grill).

There are 4 cameras on trucks with the Technology Package. One on the tailgate, one on the front grill and one under each sideview mirror. These allow for the Lane Keeping System and the 360 degree camera view to operate.

Tech package has camera in the grill and under each side mirror plus the tailgate to get the 360 degree camera I think. Not sure what is all tucked up behind the mirror.

The automatic high beam is also controlled by the technology behind the rearview mirror.

Not exactly.

OVERVIEW
System Basics
The lane keeping system uses a camera mounted behind the windshield’s rear view mirror to monitor road lane markings and detect unintentional drifting toward the outside of a lane.
