I run a 315/70/17 on a 2” level with no rub. You’re talking about a 275/65 on a 2.5, you’ll be fine.

I made the same transition from 275/55r20 to 275/65r20. Went from stock Goodyear Adventurer to Nitto Tera Grappler. I have a 2” level and have had zero rubbing. I like the look much better and it drives great. I recalibrated my speedometer and think it’s possible my mpg might have slightly improved, but it’s because I do mostly highway driving. I suspect it’s worse in the city. Some people have said the tire looks too skinny for its height, but it doesn’t bother me. Also, didn’t want to go fatter due to expected mpg hit.

Probably won’t stick with the Nittos as the back end is a bit slippery in the rain. I’ve been eyeing the Cooper AT3s, but also considering Toyo Open Country, Falken Wildpeak and Nitto Recon Grappler. These seem the be the most highway friendly of the all terrains available?

make the switch and don’t look back. You won’t regret it

My state inspection expired and the OEM GY Wrangler 275/55/20 wouldn't pass (40K) and went with the Cooper AT3 XLT 275/65/20.
The shop that installed them put 32PSI in them and that seemed low so I put 45 PSI (tire says 80PSI) but relative to weight/hauling?

What PSI do you folks run for normal driving and occasional towing 5K trailer on a 10 ply tire?

My Michelin 275-55-20 OEM tires wore out @ 60K miles. I got looking around and no name tires were running $250 and top reputation tires were over $300. Since I'm getting rid of the truck soon, I was looking for cheaper tires.

I found Cooper A/T tires at Walmart.com for about $176--a bargain. I got looking at the tread wear codes and they're 550 A/B. Most of the other Cooper tires are 650 A/B. That means that Walmart is contracting with Cooper for a budget tire that they can sell at a discount. They drive out just fine and look great. That means they might get 55,000 miles of wear vs. 60,000 miles of wear. Won't matter to me as I'm getting rid of the truck anyway. My Walmart has a full auto center, and getting the tires installed was simple and easy. And the price certainly is right.
