My tailgate won’t open. It’s as though it has lost power. Nothing happens when I press the release button. Also, nothing happens when I try to drop the tailgate via the door keypad. No unlocking noise or anything. I did crawl underneath to assure the electrical connection was still plugged in. Any ideas? Is there a way to manually release it? I’m aware of a current recall on the tailgate due to unattended releases. Maybe this is a coincidence or maybe not. 2018 Lariat Screw 502A.


***Update***I swear I searched for an existing thread before posting this one, but couldn’t find one. I have since found one, “Electronic tailgate won’t open”. Appears to be a bad actuator. It’s not going to be fun finagling the tonneau cover open.

The actuators are trash, I am on number 5 on my 2017.....my dealer said they replace tons of them.
