Electronic tailgate won't open

My Daddy never did like buying cars or trucks with a lot of power operated features. His truck has manual windows and locks. When I tried to get him to buy one with power windows and locks he said "nope all that s$&% is gonna break when it gets old". And you know what he is still driving that 21 year old truck and his manual windows and locks has never broken.

Hi All,
Just picked up my 2017. Tailgate was working until the kids were playing in the back and opened it for what appears to be the last time. Any other ideas on what to check? Anyone have the part number for the actuator? Thanks!

Had same problem on my 2015 Lariat (with tonneau cover. Solenoid failure. I was able to force mine open. If I let it sit for 15 minutes or so, the actuator would give maybe 25%. If I jerked it on this first attempt, I was able to get it open. I left it open and took it to the dealer. I got mine fixed on my PremiumCare warranty for $100. If I hadn't had that, the dealer bill was over $400 to replace it.

I had a failure, I use my truck for work and could not wait on the dealer for the warranty repair. Bought the part for $44 from the dealer (in stock). Took maybe 15 minutes to replace the solenoid. 100% a DIY repair.
