Default Tailgate Step, LOVE IT OR HATE IT???? and ...go!

My Truck did not come with the tailgate step, but I would really like something like that to acccess the bed.
Has anyone added the step?
Is that even possible/cost effective?
Just trying to gather some thoughts.

Came already installed on mine. I have a messed up back and it's been a godsend.

Will never have another one without it.

Tailgate swap from a wrecked truck would be the easy answer.

Can't help you with installing it after the fact to one without.

Love it. Guys at work laughed at my "Old man's step". But when I showed them how easy it was to get in the back, they all were... Um ya that's pretty cool!

When I bought my truck I asked the salesperson ...
" How much to add after the fact" ( they were pushing 1 that didn't have it)
They told me "I don't know?".... so I took them back to the service dept.
And found out its a different tailgate!
About $ 1500 if I remember !
Only a $375 option at order !

So I kept shopping and found 1 w/ step

Looks like they are different tailgate shells. So a whole new tailgate is required.

Just the step assembly is nearly $500(USD) at Tasca.

The shell is nearly another $500 and that's without paint. I would imagine most of the other parts could be swapped over.

I'm glad I don't have it. This works great. Opens and closes in half a second...

Have one, never use it.

Just a stubborn old grunt.
