Look on http://www.car-part.com/ in you area or similar site then make up you mind. F150 / F250 tailgates are running + $ 2K So that's a lot of options on a new truck
Find the a with the step. Also it is just to bad the MFG's have jacked these vehicles so high that people have to turn to alternatives just to use the truck.

If the trucks weren't needlessly (for MOST of the buyers, be honest) high, they wouldn't need a step in the first place!!!

You have that right, at least for me. When I was much younger I wanted a tall truck. Now I just want a functional truck that I don't need a ladder to get into the bed with.

Ironically, mine is lowered, the step is inches off the ground when deployed, makes it easier for "little people" to get into the bed...lol

(I see what you did, lol)

But my XLT has the tailgate step, so it doesn't take much of a trim level upgrade (step up?) to get it.

How far did you go?? I am thinking hard about lowering mine. Not slamming it, but getting it down a bunch. I expect there's probably two or three levels: Some lowering for easy and cheap, some more for some more parts and work and $$, and a whole bunch for significant changes and expense. I'd like the midddle results for the first levels effort and money, LOL.

Is there a thread here that is the go to thread for lowering? Or perhaps you chronicled your build??.
