"alot for work" is not much of an answer for the question...

What exactly is he doing for work that requires removal of the tail gate. Installation of another tailgate? Puts on a power lift? Shovels salt off the back of the truck in the winter?

shrug.

I'm guessing plowing or sand related, but if he doesn't want to say. He need not explain.

It may not be "much of an answer." However, it is all the answer that is required. He has to take off his tailgate, a lot, for work.

The tailgate is not meant to be removed that often so I guess he is screwed then. I was hoping to help find another solution for his dilemma rather than removing/installing the tailgate all the time.

Is there an option to open up the back of the tail gate to access another connector? You'd figure it'll be cleaner than getting underneath the truck each time.

Default Tailgate off. Summer season

In Fords defense, they rightfully engineered the tailgate to be removed only rarely. Its not meant, nor should it be, to be removed often.
Mine comes off as soon as we get back from the desert, end of March.
It stays off all Summer and into the Fall so I can load my ATV each weekend.
It won't close with ATV in there ...6.5 ft box and it bounces on gravel 4x4 roads, if I leave it down so off it comes. Sits 'on end', covered up in garage.

2017SuperCrew,
Looking at your locations it is a good thing you spend the Winter in Arizona. Winter must be a real bear in BC.

Never spent a Winter here.. I "hear" that Dec Jan and Feb are cold as a witch...half the time below freezing..in metric -20°C is common. All I know is I'd "rather be golfing," in Tucson..so I do.😁
