Hi Folfs, I have a 2016 f150 and having trouble with the tailgate release. It has become very hard to operate the tailgate. Probably because I live in Ontario where they put loads of salt on the roads in winter.. I'm finding it difficult to lubricate anything that has helped this situation despite removing the inside of the tailgate inspection panel and spaying lub at all movable parts. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks,

Thanks,
i had a similar issue on my old dodge and it was made much better by lubricating the pieces at the ends of the tailgate that latch onto the posts. never took apart the tailgate, just hit those ends with some wd40 and we were good to go.
I had the same issue with mine. The yellow plastic (green in the picture) piece that attaches to the unlocking lever (internal) wasn't staying in the hole because of the tab being worn (Orange circle) and plus the push/pull rod (yellow arrow) was bent slightly. I adjusted the yellow tab (can be screwed in or out) and used a tie wrap (blue line) to hold it in place better.

I’m also having a problem with my 2016 tailgate’s electric release button. It’s gotten worse over time- to the point it takes 4-5-6 attempts to have the latch finally engage and the tailgate opens. I have found it sometimes helps if I push on the tailgate at the same time I press the
release button. Has anyone experienced this? Would welcome any advice on my tailgate issue? Hoping it can be fixed with an adjustment.

Reason: Dying battery was the problem,
My 36 month battery had 7.2 volts the next morning it was 5 months overdue in getting replaced. New battery solved the electronic tailgate release problem!
