Default tailgate light bar

I have a tailgate light bar that I would like to install on my truck. I had it on my last truck and just plugged it into the 4 pin trailer plug. I would like to hard wire it in this truck. Does any one know the wire color of the pos reverse lights so i can hook into it. Thanks

The Reverse Light should be easy to identify by simply putting the tailgate down and removing the two screws holding in one of the two rear light housings. They have clips in front, so after you remove them you have to pull the housing back and out to get it to pop free.

Once exposed, it should be easy to isolate the necessary power wires for the backup light.

Is that in one of the tail lights or in the trail pin connector wires?

The gray wire is in the 7 pin harness.

Well I got the light installed and just hooked it in 4 pin for now. Need to hard wire it because my truck thinks it has a trailer hooked up right now.

I hard wired my light into trailer harness and the truck still thinks a trailer is hooked up. You could bypass that by using tailight wiring. On a plus note the light canceled out the autostop feature.

I am installing one on my new 2015 F150 and having the truck think that a trailer is hooked up is not good as it shuts off the rear sening system.I called Putco and they say I need to use there wiring harness number 8726F to wire it.Has anyone used this harness and does it work properly.
