Tailgate LED Strip Issue
Just installed the LED strip under the tailgate of my 2015 XLT. Here is my issue, I have a towing package and backup aid rear sensors. After the installation using 4 pin plug, every time I start the truck the 4" display shows that a trailer is hooked up and also when I put into reverse, a message comes on that backup aid sensors have been turned off due to a Trailer. Is there a way to turn off the tow mode in the computer when I am not using the trailer? Or is there a way around to keep my backup sensor operating with the LED strip plugged in? Can I tap in to the rear lights instead of the 4 pin plug? Any help would be appreciated.
The truck senses the electrical draw and thinks you have a trailer, afaik, you cannot turn it off. Best guess is that you most likely will have to separately splice into each tail light, backup and stop in order for it to work. I am not sure if the truck will sense the extra current draw and throw a warning.

^^^ That would be my concern as well - especially if they are the LED tails.
Signal isolation is required - either in solid-state form or even a minimum technical solution like small ISO relays for each circuit - the hillbilly hobbyist approach, lol.
I'd strongly advise against adding any accessory to the 2015 vehicle wiring - even more so on the higher-end trims - unless it is designed specifically for the model - with a functional guarantee.

Yep - non-defeatable Smart Trailer connector(s).
