Saw a tailgate handle light on a 2016 F150 XLT today at the dealership. It was a 302A package. I have a 2015 302a. Is this something new for 302a in 2016. Is the wiring there already for it in the 2015? Plug and play? Anyone know? It's the same led light that's on the Lariat, but this is an xlt.

 

there was a thread talking about this. i have 2016 XLT 302A, i got the LED tailgate light. quite useful.

 

That is new to the XLT for 2016. I read it is related to or necessary for the Pro Trailer Assist.
Not sure if the 2015's would have the wiring in place. Even if it did, it seems every new/added feature also needs to be turned on via the computer.

 

Would someone mind posting a picture of it?

Does your truck have an electric locking tailgate?
You can check for a harness by your spare tire plug is there My XLT with 302a and trailer assist when removing tailgate I have a cap to install on harness plug for protection from dirt ect
The light comes on when I unlock doors along with puddle lights and every other light
I guess the light helps people from running a knee into a unused trailer ball a ha
