Default Tailgate Emblem

How hard would it be to swap out the rear ford emblem? Do you have to go through the back of the tailgate?

Yeah. Just remove the panel. There are some clips and double sided tape holding it on. It's easy and only takes a few minutes.

Question regarding the emblem itself.

Does the stock blue part of the emblem come apart from the chrome oval and Ford logo or is it one piece?

Looking to paint the blue and chrome different colors...

Not sure about the current generation but on the previous (09-14) that was the case. The blue oval on our shop truck just fell off twice and the emblem was replaced under warranty.

Yes, they come apart exactly how you described.

You have to drill out the little post and glue it back together.

My truck will have the factory spray-in liner. Will that make removing the access panel too difficult?

Plan is to swap out the stock oval for one painted magnetic and matte black.
