Default tailgate applique

Anyone have this. Was wondering if it fits well, and if it would go on a platinum tailgate with the original applique removed.. seems to be cheaper than having it painted or wrapped.. Also, for any body shop guys out there, any prep needed to put body filler in the oem panel to fill in the letters, f150, and ford oval areas???

I believe you will find the shape to be different. Raptor's with applique use the 15-17 tailgate. To use the Raptor style applique you need a 15-17 tailgate.

I am wanting to change the 5" Ford oval that sits on my 2015 platinum's rear appliqué . It looks like the only way to do so will be to break the clips on the appliqué bottom edge , remove it from the truck and then remove the nuts that attach the oval to the appliqué. Then reattach appliqué: Does anyone know a easier way or done this procedure? Your input will be appreciated. ThankYou in advance

If you're intending to discard the current oval and glue the new one on, I would just cut my way through the front of the oval with a Dremel cutting wheel. A lot of ovals only snap in with plastic tabs, but even if yours is attached with bolts and nuts, you could still cut through those and make a smooth surface for the new oval to mount over.

Now there's a thought ! Maybe after the new oval arrives and it gives me an idea of how it built on its back side your suggestion may be my only option. Certainly easier than removing appliqué

This might help you figure out where to cut to get to the mounting bolts.
