Default Sync3 v3 update black screen

Just updated my 2018 sync to v3. Finished the install said to remove the usb and it would install me time the vehicle started. Well now just a ford emblem then a blank screen. I just installed the update on my expedition and it worked fine. Now my truck screen is dead. I can plug my iPhone up and it will look like CarPlay but the touch screen won’t work. Any suggestions? I tried to pull the battery for several min and it still doesn’t work. I’m at a loss

Have you played in Forscan and set your screen to the GT performance screen. If so you need to reset your as built data and change it to something else. If not I am not sure.

Yes I had the GT splash screen. Does that need to be changed?

Yes, the latest update killed the GT performance screen. That's why I haven't updated yet, I don't care for the other options.

Yeah, I had the GT Performance, dropped the truck off to have the APIM looked at for a locking up issue and completely forgot that it needed to be restored to original As-Built. They replaced the APIM and had this exact thing happen. I had to take off from work and bring my laptop and dongle to fix it.

Now, here is something I just found out tonight. If the theme is missing and set to GT Performance, it will boot with the default screens and work, however, only if the other two settings needed for GT Blue are not configured. If they are at stock settings then it will still work. Found that out tonight playing around with forscan.

so you have the factory splash screen? I loved the black theme and the GT Ford performance. Wish I could get that back on there. Not a fan of the bright blue.

I guess upgrading APIM to v3.4 brings GT Blue back, but otherwise the alternative is to use Forscan and enable Lincoln Brown instead. Thats what I did last night and like it a lot better than the default blue.

Blue GT is no more. Gone.
I'm using the Ford performance screen now.
