Hi all, having some issues with my SYNC system. I'm on Version 3.0 with OUT Nav which I just flashed up from 1.0 yesterday after I bought the truck. It's a '16 Lariat and I used the file given to me via the ford website to download for my vehicle based on VIN. I can't get Android Auto to work at all. Everything I read tells me to turn Android Auto on via a Android Auto tile in my Settings menu. However, I have no Android Auto tile in my settings menu. I plug my phone in and I get "Device Detected" at the top of my SYNC unit so it's clearly recognizing the device and I'm using a premium USB-C cord that came with my OnePlus 7 Pro phone. I can also run audio through the USB connection as a source of music as a double check to make sure it's recognizing the phone and transferring data. No tile in my settings menu for Android Auto though(yes I've scrolled left to the second screen). I have the latest version of it on my phone and I'm using a fairly new phone with Android 10 installed on it. I've attached a picture of what I believe the tile I'm missing is found via a Google image search. How the heck can I get SYNC to recognize Android Auto on my phone and give me the Android Auto Preferences tile to turn it on? I've tried everything I can possibly think of...
Also hello guys and gals, my first post seems to be a rant, sorry!
Several others have had problems connecting to Android Auto and the problem has been the USB cable. It will work for everything else EXCEPT Android auto. Try another cable and also, have an Android app running that also uses Android Auto when you connect the USB cable. One app that specifically works and is designed to coordinate with Sync 3 is Waze and also Stitcher (which in the Android version also works directly with Sync 3 via Bluetooth - syncs podcasts between multiple vehicles and your desktop computer so you can move between vehicles or devices and pause a program and resume in a different location, but I digress).
I have found AA is less stable than the Sync apps or even bluetooth. I haven't been able to do a trip using Waze where the Ford Navigation has been flawless as far as stability is concerned.
Are you opening AA on your phone prior to plugging it in?
Tried it both ways, open before plugged in (using Android auto for phone screens app) and unopened to see if it would auto start once it recognized it was connected to a vehicle. Same results with both.
Sorry for the delay, tried manually resetting the system like BlacKnBack mentioned and same thing. It's almost like my system is showing it's upgraded to 3.0 but without the features of it. Can I try to reinstall 3.0? Will that brick the system or will it even allow me to try an install it over my current version of 3.0 it's showing
Also something else odd...When I look at the setting on my Android Auto App on my phone my truck isn't even listed as a car. I tried my girlfriends phone and it didn't recognize hers either or my old backup phone.
