I got a notice that an update for the Sync system was available. I log into the owner.ford.com site and download the update as the directions state. When I go to move it to the USB drive the JR3T-143G81-AS-tar.gz file will not transfer. I get 0x80004005: Unspecified Error every time. I have tried different USB sticks, different browsers, different computers and get the same results every time. Of course the update wont install without the proper files. I have followed Ford's directions step by step as well to make sure I'm not doing something stupid. The USB's are formatted to the correct format and even went and bought a new one to make sure it wasn't a problem with the one I had. Has anyone else run into this problem and how did you solve it? The truck is a 2018 F150 Lariat.
I used an 8 GB and a 32 GB both formatted to the exFAT format as the directions stated. I have redownloaded multiple times and the problem is always the same file.
Error code 0x80004005 is sometimes associated with file extractor software. When this happens, you'll see the error code when trying to extract or open compressed files, like .zip and .rar files.
This fix is simple, but it only works if you see this error when interacting with compressed files. If that's the case, download and install an alternative unzip program and try using that.
I must be outdated or a Canadian file..1.5gb to your 400mbs..
.lol...downloading mine.. see how it goes...
for those.....yes I know I'm downloading the install file...o.p. has file for usb
looks like I'm gonna have the same issues....extracting 2 files give me errors...same one in the o.p. picture

My truck was exactly like that: Build 17276, and maps 1.16. I had 2 issues. First, I opened the 'syncmyride' folder, and copied the files into the USB. I got exactly the error you got. So I copied the entire folder, and that did the trick. My other mistake was not putting the 'verification' file inside the 'syncmyride' folder, but once I did, everything worked perfectly. And I did it with just the ignition on, but with a 5A charger hooked up. Stupid truck shut everythinng of right at 40 minutes, with about 3 more to go. But fortunately, I turned ignition off and back on, and the download kept going. About 3 minutes later, it said it was done. Cycled ignition once more, and it showed both updates on the screen above. It has to be something stupid. Check all the files again. Good luck.
