Sync vs Sync3
I bought a new 2018 F-150 XL last week, and I am in the process of learning all of the bells and whistles. While playing with pairing my phone to the truck, I had a few questions that I chatted online with a Ford rep. One thing that confused us both is that my truck, according to the VIN build info, is showing that it is equipped with the Sync3, which it is actually showing as the software, but I have the 4" non-touch screen dash display. Anyone else ran in to this issue? If so, any info you might could share would be appreciated. Appears that I have a standard Sync unit operating on Sync3 software.
I dont think you understand the issue. I have a 4" display which is Sync, but I have verified the software that it is running is Sync3. Trying to figure out why the system and the software are not for the same version.
The radio is called a Sync unit. Sync 3 unit is the 8 inch and the base unit is the Sync unit. They both run on software the version of software on the Sync is Verision 3.0, and the version of software running on the Sync 3 units is version 3.0.
OK, so both systems use the exact same software. You would think the guy I chatted with at Ford would have been aware of that.
I think what Mlarv is saying is that both Sync and Sync3 are on version 3. That doesn't mean they're running the same software; just the same version of their respective software. Just like Windows version 10 isn't the same as iOS 10.
