What really sucks is not being able to dump in the picture of your choice for the background screen. What is this, 1995?

Granted, I personally think touchscreens in vehicles are idiotic.....

anybody have any ideas?
Yeah, probably should take it to the dealer, but your post is lacking some details. You say it has to be rebooted every time you turn the truck on, but the APIM is essentially rebooted every time you turn on the truck to begin with, does it work perfectly fine after that initial reboot? You listed problems, but your post doesn't give a clear indication of when they are happening aside from assuming it's ONLY when you first start the truck.

Anyway, you mentioned it doesn't pick up media. That threw a red flag for me immediately that it may not be a Sync problem but a problem with something you are attaching. Are you trying to play media from a flash drive, or off your phone or something? If so, do you experience issues with Sync 3 if you don't have ANY devices plugged in? There may be a problem with the device itself, the cable being used, or maybe one of the USB ports on the truck.

If you have issues with NOTHING plugged in to either USB port, and just playing Sirius is having issues, then yeah probably just a faulty APIM unit. It's not a $47,000 APIM, it's a $5 APIM in a truck with thousands of individual parts. Like anything, that device can be faulty even from factory. The dealer will diagnose it and life will go on.

More specifics...
iPhone plugged in via USB does not get recognized.
Bluetooth does not automatically connect even though it's configured to.
Does not give an option for Sirius radio.
Touchscreen does not work.
Backup camera stays on when going forward on occasion.
Cannot adjust volume or turn off radio at all.
You want me to go on?

What version (Build #) of Sync 3 v3.3 software do you have?

Nah, don't need you to go on because I am not a dealer. Was just trying to offer some options that may save you a trip, but as you want to just be a snarky dick about it enjoy your dealer trip. Hopefully this is the only problem you have.

Your APIM is most likely toast. As already said, it's not uncommon and has been going on since MyFord Touch/SYNC 2. That said, Ford is hardly the only one that has infotainment system issues. Try paying $60,000 for one of those Rams with the 12 inch screen and having it freeze up all the time. If you head over to the Ram forums, you will see that is not uncommon either. My advice is to take it in, let them fix it under warranty and go back about enjoying your truck.

Planned Obsolescence... Since the APIM is so critical to the truck - if it dies, you have to replace it... if you can't replace it, you have to get a new truck!

I see a new truck for a lot of people in the next 5 to 7 years.
