Shaay, I have been using the reply to text since I got the truck in August. I did not realize that I could start texting via voice/sync/Bluetooth/cell. As espete explained above, it works. Thanks espete!

When you mention switching to Bluetooth audio and speaking to the phone, do you mean the mic on the phone? Or is the truck mic connected to the phone via Bluetooth?

Thanks for any clarification.

I have a samsung S5 with car mode. It enables me through the phone/sinc to speak to text. My provider is Bell Canada. I have been told it depends on the procider if your phone has car mode or not. As soon as I get in my truck my phone automatically goes into car mode, I just say Hi galaxy and it reaponds through the truck audio system. Play music, text or call through voice commands.

I've been using android for years, jelly bean and kit kat were great I'm giving up. Since lollipop it's crap. Too much bloat ware app. Updates. Dropped calls. Doesn't work for crap. And battery drain. I could go on for hours of all the crap if been though with it since their new platform
And it's crap with sync 2. Never thought I would. But am going over to iPhone. And if it works well with sync. All the better
Yeah it works kinda. I have the hi galaxy thing to. But it's the constant updates and all that killed it for me

You just have the wrong Android phone. Not all Android phones are the same. You need a Nexus device or Moto X which is pure Android, not Android with Samsung crap on top.

I've had every Moto X device and I'm currently on the newest, the Moto X Pure. I can speak to my phone and issue commands without ever picking it up or touching it. I don't need Sync to read or reply to my texts. It's hands free. My phone knows when I'm driving and will ask if I want a text read out loud. These features have been on Moto X since 2013.

I'm still not able to go completely hands free with the HTC One M8. I tried out "Car Mode" this morning. It seems as through the Samsung Car Mode and the HTC Car Mode are a little different. It does allow me to speak to the phone through the Sync system. However, I need to initiate it by tapping the "speak" button on my phone, and the Sync voice button on the steering wheel doesn't seem to activate it. Plus, the HTC Car Mode app also doesn't appear to allow you to reply to texts via voice either, same as with the native Sync functionality.

This is getting frustrating...

This sums it up in a nutshell. If you want to send a text message, by voice, then a) your phone has to have this capability AND b) you need to either speak TO YOUR PHONE or TO YOUR PHONE via BT audio via Sync - but you're not using Sync, just BT Audio, to do this.
