I just updated my 2020. Having updated my 2016, I learned to read the instructions completely even before downloading the update onto a thumb drive.

I read the paragraph about the auto shut off and learned that because I have a key, it was not a concern.

I also read the paragraph about the download will reboot twice during the process.

Based on previous experience I knew to wait for the command to remove the usb. And that the system would complete the update the next time the vehicle was started.

The last step is to turn off the truck and close and lock the doors.

The bottom line is that Ford does some squirrely stuff with these downloads and you have to read the instructions carefully.

I just did the update by downloading the files. Picked up a 32gb usb 3.0 from bestbuy for $6 - files took over 4 hours to download from ford. once downloaded I extracted the files, and it took forever to copy them to the usb I had formatted to exfat. I started the truck, and everything was in slow motion. after several seconds the do you want to update messages appeared. i responded to start the installation and all I got that anything was happening was an installtion in progress msg across the top of the screen. I took off on some errands and spent over an hour driving around. Bought lunch, pulled into a parking lot and ate with the truck still running. I got a message that the 2nd part of the installation would start when I started the truck the next time. turned it off, waited 15 seconds and started the truck again. Same installtion in progress msg across the top of the screen. Drove home, left the truck running, locked it and went inside for a break. Came back out and same msg. right about 70 minutes I get another 'installation will continue msg when you restart. so I started truck again and drive around the neighborhood. By this time i'm 95 minutes into this and no indication if I screwed up or how long is left. I decided to wait two more songs on the radio and give up.

Litrerally in the middle of the second song, about 100 minutes after starting this I get a message that the update is complete and everything will be fine when i next start the truck. Shut it off, pulled the USB, waited 15 seconds, started the truck and no msgs or anything. I assume it updated since I eventually got all the correct messages. I forgot to check versions before i came back inside the house. So from starting to download the files till finish about 6.5 hours total on this update. utter nonsense from a technical point of view.

version NA 119 which is the latest from what I can see. Just checked after a trip to the store. No more messages.

I just updated my 2018 to the new NA 119 Version Maps. Took 45 minutes. I downloaded the files and put them on my USB drive according to the download instructions. Followed the Ford installation directions, and all went as expected except for the first message. When I put in the USB stick, I got the "Upgrading" message, but within 3 seconds it said all done and I could take out the USB drive. I knew that was not correct, so I left in the USB drive in, restarted the truck, and this time the expected set of messages came up, and I OKed the install, and in about 45 min, the "all complete, will take effect after the next restart" message.

I restarted the truck and verified that NA 119 was the version.

Good luck everyone. I feel bad for the owners who do not have the skill set to create their own USB drive. $40.00 for the mailed update USB stick seem kinda high to me.

The number I called that seemed to be the most beneficial is actually a number for Lincoln, 800-521-4140. They escalated my issue and within a couple days I received an email from an 'In-Vehicle Technology Research Escalations Specialist". She emailed me a small file that I loaded onto a USB drive (along with my license file) that, apparently, erased the maps all together. It only took a few minutes for them to be deleted and I ended up with a black nav window and a "Navigation Fault" error message. I then reloaded my original map files onto the USB and just started the map installation process over. This time the installation seemed to go quicker than the first time I attempted it (maybe slightly less than an hour) and I did receive the final message indicating the installation was complete and that I could remove my USB drive. Thankfully everything seems to be operating normally and I no longer get the annoying pop-up message.

Even though it took several phone calls to various numbers, I'm thankful they were able to resolve the issue with a simple file sent via email.
