Sync music
So I just picked up my new xlt today and the 2 hour drive home offered an opportunity to test some of the many functions of while stick in gridlock.
I keep the music on my phone on a micro SD card and for some reason sync won't allow me to initiate the music via voice but rather direct from the phone.
Is it possible that because the music is not centralized on the phones memory sync is not able to break some sort of protocol.

Hey Chris0418,
I'm happy to help! When streaming the music from the phone, be sure to have the music playing from the phone first with the volume turned up. Then, press the voice command button and say BLUETOOTH AUDIO or USB (depending on how you're connected) and then PLAY. For more info on this feature, check out this link: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-...html?sync=sync
Keep me posted!

Unfortunately I think I may have to send my music from the card to the internal memory for it to recognize or a flash drive.
Didn't have any success with the micro SD card so I transferred my music over to the internal memory and it worked no problem but would be nice to not have to use the extra memory
why not use a micro usb device? I picked up a 64gb sandisk micro usb, for like 15.00 on amazon to use for music in my truck!
Works flawlessly...

I don't fully understand this thread. Sync has never been able to play music using voice unless the phone is plugged in via usb. The only interaction sync can have with music on your phone is through Bluetooth audio. And in that case you say, Bluetooth audio, then press play either on the phone or the dash. When in Bluetooth audio, you can't say things like "play artist Metallica", but if your phone is plugged in via USB cable, OR you have a USB flash drive plugged in, then you can use the music voice commands.
Unless things have changed in sync 3? I've had sync since 2008 and I've just always used Bluetooth audio with my phone or a USB full of music plugged in

We are brand new to Sync but your explanation of needing to be plugged in to access voice was much appreciated.
I understand. I'm glad to hear it worked. We'll be here if anything else comes up.
