And it appears that its not available to all VINs, yet. My truck got left at the shop today and I asked about it. They say that my VIN didnt show up as needing the upgrade.

Another fantastic dealer...OASIS says you are on 3.7 (really 3.07) and 3.10 is available.

LOL, the owner portal says I am on 3.8, and I think I am because I upgraded back in July.

Run a vehicle health report...that will update Oasis, then I can check again.

I just pulled up a vehicle confirmed to be running old 2.4 version of MFT and the owner site is glad to report "Its up to date" LMAO!!!!

It's only recorded history on the owner site is when it left the factory.

I really think that when Ford had issues with the 3.08 DL this past year they just made everything say its up to date and disabled downloads for it.

I don't use apple products, but I can tell you as an android user I am used to frequent updates that aren't just security related. There have been several updates to my android devices that include updated functionality and UI improvements. And I get that legacy is an issue, but I think for a "device" that costs $40,000 there should be a much greater desire for support than one that costs $400. I've owned two of these trucks and have yet to see any new functionality introduced. Like I said I think it's a problem because we've (or at least I have) come to expect that these devices are treated this way. It's a perception issue for sure, but it's still frustrating.

I meant in terms of mating with the truck's interface. I haven't looked into it since I've had the new truck, but when I had my 14 you couldn't even get a bezel, much less an aftermarket HU that worked with sync voice and all the buttons, camera, etc. This may have changed though.

Integrating with OEM controls is hit or miss, not because they're behind in technology but simply because aftermarket manufacturers would need to provide hardware and software interface for all makes/models/trims/years of vehicles to really market it. Realistically, if you're lucky you can get an adapter for some aftermarket radios to work with steering wheel buttons.

Many aftermarket HU's have input for the backup cams, also front cams, and are easy to wire to make either cam come on when you want. you can also play DVD video on them with the vehicle moving if you "forget" to connect the parking brake input wire.

In addition, nav, voice commands, bluetooth for audio and handsfree calls, MP3 and other digital media have all been in aftermarket units for years. Not to mention tipically better EQ controls, better quality DAC's, options for subs and amplifiers, etc...
