Like you I got a LST_005 error which means your license will not work with the map software.

Today I was told by a supervisor in CRC that since I bought my maps on Feb 26, 2021, and that I did not file a case # until 2022 - my license had expired. I cannot get the download to work. He said I have to buy the download again. Ethically that is wrong - you usually only have to pay once for software and if does not function the company will fix the problem. He stated Ford would not do anything for me as my license was expired for my software.

I was told I could not take it any further and that his supervisor does not take phone calls. He's name was Rodel - he was not nice.

My response is I am glad Google Maps still works on my iPhone - it will have to work I guess until I buy a new car. You think it will be a Ford?

You get an error LST_ERR005, because the license file is the wrong file. If you go on Ford's website and search for "Why am I getting the LST_005 error you will see:

When I downloaded my files the License file is JR3T-14G424-CF.TAR.GZ - Notice the file is not 242, but is 424. If you put the license file in the SyncMyRide folder the program bombs out. It is looking for a file called JR3T-14G421-CE - but there is no file by that name so it bombs out and issues a LST_005 error.

I called Ford and they still have not figured this out. My 7 files I think unzipped just fine. The problem is the license file is wrong. You can use WinRAR and see what the license file has - 2 simple files that are wrong. I just do not understand why they had to make it so difficult. In any event my maps are still NA 1 15 which I think are from when the programs was started as my house that was built 5 years ago is not on them. Unless I can get the Map Upgrade to work I am stuck with the map I have.

By the way make sure the flash drive is about 20 gigs and format it using ex-fat and not NTFS. If you get the right files you might be able to upgrade your maps - I still am stuck with my LST_005 error.

Post a screen shot of your syncmyride folder contents for the map upgrade.

Terrible answer and terrible customer service. On the bright side, Google Maps is much better than the factory navigation anyways so very little lost. I haven't used my Ford factory NAV since the first week I purchased my truck. The pecking order for best NAV I've found is as follows:

1. Google maps
2. Apple maps
3. Ford SYNC

They are sending you the wrong license file. It should be "CF". They had that issue when the maps were first released in Late summer/fall 2021. Everyone's for 16-18s was messed up. They sent out CE when it should have been CF and everyone that had purchased it had to re-download it. You downloaded it via the email you got when you purchased it?

Yes, if you use WinRAR and look at the license file it points to a CE file that is not there. Getting Ford to acknowledge this is like trying to make a fire by rubbing sticks together. They have finally agreed to send me another license file after 15 phone calls and 3 open tickets. They just do not know how to fix problems when they occur. Customer relations is terrible - half the people working there cannot understand english.

Use the following steps If you receive an LST_005 error message while attempting to install your SYNC 3 Navigation map update.

Before you start, find your SYNC 3 software version:
  1. Tap Settings on your vehicle's SYNC 3 screen.
  2. Select General.
  3. Tap About or About SYNC.
  • If your vehicle has SYNC 3 v3.0, there should be seven (7) files in the SyncMyRide folder. If the JR3T-14G242-CF.TAR.GZfile is missing, you will see the LST_005 error when attempting to install the map update.
  • If your vehicle has SYNC v3.3 or v3.4, there should be 15 files in the SyncMyRide folder. If the 4U5T-14G424-CD.TAR.GZ file is missing, you will see an LST_005 error when attempting to install the map update.
