Sync map update LST_ERR05
 
Got my map update usb drive in the mail. When I plug it in all I get is an error. Lst_err05. I’m already updated to 3.3 on my 2019 f150.

any ideas?

I downloaded the zip file from the SyncNavigation.com website and am getting the same error code. According to the Ford Sync Instructions pdf (attached) this code means the map license file is missing. However, I followed the directions exactly and added the license file as directed. Called the 800-392-3673 number, but of course, they are not open at this time.

The last time I updated the maps I think that code was the result of not expanding the zip file correctly. I use a Mac and someone said you had to expand the zip file using Stuffit rather than the built-in Archive Utility. I tried to do that this time, but after expanding the file about 75% it came up with a message saying the "structure of the archive is damaged". So, I used the built-in Archive Utility and after adding the license file got the Lst_err05 code.

I don't think I have ever successfully updated the Sync software on the first try.

Yeah. I had the usb shipped to me. It gave the error. I just spent about 2 hours downloading and loading up a usb Drive of my own. It too gave the same error.

Having the same problem from downloading the update. It looks like the license file is wrong, the autoinstall.list file is calling for 4U5T-14G424-CC and the the one I was sent is 4U5T-14G424-CB. Also if you open the license file it has a list of different files so renaming the file doesn't work.

Guess that was 40.00 dollars down the drain. I’ll have to call Monday to see what they say. Kinda irritated with this.

funny thing is, I tried getting the complacently download but it wasn’t an option so I paid for the update.

I go to the site yesterday and it now shows the free download option.

Having done the map update recently, I have an idea what is wrong. I downloaded the software onto a flash drive and got the error the first time I tried to install. I went back to the instructions and noted they were very specific about ensuring the license file is on the USB, and they gave the file name. I noticed the file name I downloaded had a different file extension after the dot. I renamed the license file to match exactly what the instructions said it should be named, and then the update went just fine. It took about 45 minutes to finish, so do it on a long drive or be sure the vehicle isn't set to automatically shut off the engine if you run the update while parked. Good luck.

If you're eligible, I think there are ~3 or so free map updates from memory. It's always possible there is some glitch with the site to where it's generating a license for the old map data. Seems like that's what happened here i these are the direct files you got from the download.

I triple-checked and the file extension is the same. I see you have a 2019, I'm wondering if my 2018 is not eligible for 2019 maps because I updated last year to the 2018 maps "free".

On the update site, the only mention I saw of paying for updates was if you wanted a pre-loaded flash drive shipped to you. I'll be interested to see what Ford tells you.

The licence file provided is 14G424-CB. Why isn't the license file 14G424-CE as you have stated? Is this the same issue others have described that the license file being provided is incorrect?

that is the same list I downloaded, the autoinstall file is calling for CC not the CE. I know these files are different then the 1.18 I downloaded before.

Looks like the same may have happened. For the chunked maps (~MY19+), the license file is -CC. For whatever reason, it looks like it generated an older license file when you downloaded from Alom.

It seems that if you downloaded the 18 maps from the site before it is spitting out the 18 map license file for the new 19 maps. This goes for 3.0 (for the F150 16-18) and 3.2+ (for the F150 19-20) sync 3 units. On the first day the new 19 maps were out I tried to get the 19 maps for one I had upgrade with 18 maps before and it wouldn't let me download anything. So they have made some progress on that front but obviously have to correct what license file you are getting. Doesn't seem like they do much trial and error testing before going live.

why should they? We do it for them.

I agree, the license file currently available is the exact same file name that was provided for the v1.18 map update when updating from v1.17.

So I just got off the phone with Ford CRC and they have opened a case for this LST_ERR05 issue. I told them the licence was wrong and he didn't argue lol. just waiting for them to respond with a solution now.

I too am caught in the CRC to Sync 3 Navigation support line shuffle. Absolutely no help. Each refers me to the other for support

Add me to the list of people with the LST_ERR05 error. The license file that I downloaded was JR3T-14G424-CD.TAR.GZ, which is bite for bite the same as the license file for the last map upgrade I completed for NA 1 18.

I was about to rename the license file to the value referenced in autoinstall.lst - JR3T-14G424-CE.tar.gz. I'm glad I found this post before doing that and possibly bricking something.

What is interesting about it? Its the same issue as those with 16-18's that did the map update previously via the site.

That is only happening if the APIM was previously upgraded to 1-18 via the website before. I have done a handful of units that were never upgraded and they are sending the proper license for the 19 maps for those.

I called the 800.392.3673 number today and was transferred to the Navigation people. The very nice woman I spoke to said she has been getting calls like this all day. She had me verify the current Sync version (3.0 build #19205) and maps version (NA 1 18) I had and then told me it should work and, unfortunately, there was nothing else she could do. She told me to call the 800 number again and ask to speak to a supervisor.

I called the 800 number again, spent 15 minutes on hold listening to how important my call is to Ford, did not speak to anyone, then was asked to complete a survey about my experience. I gave the lowest rating to all questions and then was disconnected. I called back again. Same result. Called back a third time. The very polite rep told me I could not speak to a supervisor because they have no trouble shooting abilities ay that number and the people at Navigation (ALLM) should be doing this.

I give up for now.

The Ranger one is a new issue. So it sounds like if it has record at all of 18 maps then its sending the wrong one. All I have tried to do have either but upgraded to 18 (which they send the wrong license) or 17 and earlier and I get the correct 19 license.

I called the 800 number listed in the LST_ERR05 error message, explained the issue, and was told to call the "Sync3 Map Updates Line" - 1-800-900-8458 (which I see is listed here: https://syncnavigation.com/ford/contactus)
When I called the "Map Updates" number, I explained the issue and was told there is a "known problem" that is being worked on. They took my information and told me I would get an email when it was resolved.
I'll report back if I hear any updates about a fix...

Just updated my maps. Actually stumbled across this thread while waiting for it to update.

2020 F150 with Sync 3.4
I was prompted by FordPass with a notification so went to the website and followed the instructions. I updated successfully, but did run into the same error.

- I am using a Mac and properly formatted a 16GB USB 2.0 in exFAT like specified.
- I plugged the USB in and immediately was confronted with the same error mentioned. Reading their instructions the error happens when the license file is missing.
- Realized I made a rookie mistake and added the file to my computer copy of the update instead of the USB copy. So I, in fact, was missing the license file.
- My license file ends in “CC”. I’ve never downloaded from this site before so this is my first time.
- Update took 95 mins. Much longer than the 60 mins they specified. Could be due to an older slower USB stick, who knows.

So in conclusion, my error was my mistake of forgetting to add the file to my USB. The error is generated when the proper license file is missing. So reading through the thread the pattern seems to be with individuals who have used the site in the past are receiving the wrong license file.

Hopefully it gets resolved quickly for you all.

I did the update on my 2017 last week Tuesday. I did not follow the instructions correctly and put the license file (CE) in the wrong spot. I received the error_05 as well. I read the instructions better that time and put the files where they were needed. Little over a hundred bucks and the files show the latest modification in the zipped file was from last year? Oh well. I put the truck in power accessory mode and put a battery charger on it. I was not going to have it idle for an hour or was I going anywhere for that long. After I had the files in the right spot, it did work. My wife used the new map over the weekend and she said it had her going all stupid routes to get to where she wanted to go... Maybe I need to tweak the settings some?

So I tried updating my wife's escape after I tried numerous times with my F150 and got the same error code. So definitely a license issue as I updated both vehicles last year with the 1 18 update. Now the waiting game for the fix.

I've been working with an excellent Ford CSR on this issue. It took a few calls to get a good agent who didn't transfer me to a dead end. They ended up opening a case for this problem. She has been working with the Ford IVT team to get to the bottom of this. The agent has been checking in with me a few times a day with questions from the IVT team.

I haven't received a final confirmation, but I can state that when I go back to the map download page, I am now served the correct CE file. The contents are completely different from the former CD file. How do you get back to the download page? Find the 'Order Confirmation' email when you requested the map upgrade. In that email, you will see a link to access your download again.

I haven't tried to install the new map yet, I am waiting for the go ahead from Ford.

Yes, it seems like the license issue may be fixed now for the downloads. You can go back and try to re-download like mtech mentioned above to see if you're getting the correct license file generated now.

I cant re-download it. The option to download it is now gone for me. The only option I got is to buy a USB stick for $40??

Had the ERR05 problem yesterday and the license was the same as when I updated Sync to V3.3. Followed the re-download link today from the email and only downloaded the license. It was different from yesterday. Tried it and it is installing as I type.

Thank you. Its good to know someone on the "team" pays attention and works at getting issues like this resolved. I would be great if someone with a better working knowledge of how things work actually answered the phone and email for this type of stuff. If you hadn't stepped in I am thinking the issue would be unresolved yet.

Yep, it appears they fixed the problem. I downloaded the license this morning and it was -CD, but when I redownloaded the license this afternoon, it was -CE. Going to go update my maps! :)

Downloaded my package yesterday morning. First attempt I screwed up and had the 4U5T-14G424-CC License file in the wrong spot and got the LST_ERR05 message right away.

Second attempt started OK with acknowledging upgrade, etc. Ran for almost an hour, rebooted once an then came up with "Installation Failed - Error Code: PKG_ERR03 - Download files again and retry install."

Downloaded again, reformatted USB, reloaded and retried to install again. This time no acknowledgement screens, it just went to "Upgrading system..." It ran for almost an hour again and then gave me the "Installation Complete" screen. After removing the USB and restarting the vehicle, it still says NA 1 18, same as when I started. Tried the whole process from download to install again today and the truck would not even start the upgrade process.

I emailed ford@call24.com this afternoon and got this for a reply:"Your vehicle is up to date. If you saw the completion message, then you are ok. There is a glich with the sync software. So the next time your sync software updates then it will change and show the correct map version number."

Seems kinda weird to me... How can I confirm that my map is now NA 1 19?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

So, there is a glitch with v3.3 where it isn't showing the right installed nav version. Do you know how to get to the IVSU Versions bezel diag screen? You can check the packages that are installed there against the files you have to confirm your data updated.

I remember having this issue when I updated my 2019 F150 from Nav v1.17 to v1.18. I validated the Nav files were installed but the screen still shows v1.17.

Could you please post how to access the IVSU menu using bezel diagnostics? I can't remember how I did that.

With CD player --> Turn on the radio. Press and hold seek forward and CD eject on the EFP for ~10 seconds, end the speaker walk-around, select APIM Diagnostics, select IVSU Versions.

I believe that was a bug with v3.3 I had the same issue. It displayed the correct maps version when I went to 3.4

Thanks for the info! I checked the IVSU Versions info and it looks like the first three items are not in the package and the last 2 of the items 4U5T-14G421-CAC and 4U5T-14G422-CAF match the files in the install package. There are 14 items in the package, so I am not sure what that means...

About 50 minutes. Make sure you wait until you get the "installation complete you can remove the usb" screen. there were a couple times when it restarted and seemed like it was done, but then the "installing system update" message would appear again at the top of the screen again.

You're all set. You have the 19Q1 map and nav voice packs loaded. The map is chunked by region, and the nav voice by language. That why you'll only see one of each at a time.

Hopefully sometime this month, not sure on any exact timeline though. OASIS still shows July as a planned date for some fixes to relevant items.

If you don't see the CAF, it's possible the full install did not complete / was interrupted part way through. If it isn't there and you tried to perform some nav voice search, like an address, it'd probably kill the voice session right away as the data it needs doesn't exist. The various items in that are for core applications (main software), voice (data for prompts, commands, TTS, etc.), gracenotes, map, and nav voice data (addresses, POI names...).

I downloaded the new maps yesterday for my 2019 F-150 Platinum and it did what appeared to be a good install. Took right at an hour. Still showing NA v1.18 instead of 1.19. Looking forward to SYNC 3.4 update since that's what I'm reading will fix what is displayed.

Tried another download today. Now after the download,formatting, naming everything correctly and copying over to the Sandisc drive, 32gb I'm getting a mem_err01. So now I'm trying the copy onto a Samsung 32gb drive. I'll update what this one does.
It didn't work with the Samsung drive either. Guess I'll wait and see if the installs will fix it at some point. Both drives still had 16/17 gigs of free space left.

I have a 2020 F150 on SYNC3 v3.4.19274, received a message saying I had a map update and went through the process to verify and order the download version on my phone thinking I would get an email and I could download it when I got home. Now I think I did that incorrectly because when I do the same thing on my computer, I only get the option to buy the $40 USB update. Can someone be kind enough to walk me through how I can download this again if possible? Thanks in advance.

I should of been more clear, apologies. The message was in the FordPass app on my phone and I have not received an email about this at all. And after going through the process again, it looks like I ordered the latest map version at $0 because I was downloading it. Now when I go through the process, it's telling me that I have already bought it and the only thing I can do is buy the same version on USB. So I guess does anyone know how I can get the free download again?

When you do an order they email you a confirmation. The link to re-download it is in that email.

It's saying it's run out of space copying the new packages. You can try a master reset to clear out some of the temp items in case there's some old package left in there for some reason.
