Default SYNC freezing up

Has anyone had issues with their SYNC freezing up? Mine will be fine for a while, then it freezes up on long trips. I've tried multiple master resets, but it seems to be in a permanent state of slowness now. Would disconnecting the battery help clear something to get it running like normal again?

EDIT: Probably also worth mentioning that I'm up to date with the latest Ford-provided software version.

Yep, bad APIM. I've been through this twice. It started by being a little sluggish from time to time, and showing "No GPS". As things progressed, the Bluetooth started stuttering. It all got worse and worse, taking more than 10 seconds to register a single button push. Ford tried to do a firmware flash and call that good (which I had already done)... then I had to take it back to force them to replace the APIM. Twice.

My Sync doesn't freeze.. but my Nav does every now and then.... It will just stop processing/moving for like 60 to 90 seconds.. then Jump to my current location and continue on as if nothing happened.

Mine is doing all of that now...

Started with the navigation & no gps about a month ago. That happened about 3 more times. Most recently the Bluetooth drops & reconnects to my phone multiple times. The response to "buttons" can take from a minute to several minutes. If you press multiple buttons in frustration when it seems to have frozen, it will suddenly "catch up" after 5-10 minutes and cycle through the commands at lightening speed... and then freeze again. The camera even came on once going down the highway at 65 mph!

It's at the shop now...

Just heard back from dealer... It's a bad "SYNC unit".

I asked if that's the APIM thing I asked about & he said "they're related" and he has one coming in tomorrow...
So hopefully it's the newest version! Now the question is "will it quit again in 2.5 years when I don't have a warranty??"

Any correlation to where the modules where made or dates? We need a sync poll.

Some made in mexico and some made in china I imagine...I noticed the ACM's looking for HD radio had two manufacturing locations.

AWESOME!! Just got it back with a brand new "APIM"... everything works great
(I had to reconnect my phone & redo all the stuff you need to "customize" to your liking like in a new truck)
But... it works & has a 2 year warranty.

AND... it's got the latest version of maps. "16" verses the "14" I had.
