Well I clicked the Dropbox link and it has been shutdown because of too many visitors.. I have to take my truck in tomorrow for a Sync3 issue (Audio plays - screen shows its off) and see if they can do the update as well.

A very lousy way to get around the new Sync update. If I had known about this, I wouldn't have updated.
FYI unfortunately also standard behavior in a factory 2.0 2017. This along with freezing when selecting maps from the home screen, freezing when a route is pre-loaded using the phone and connected, sometimes going to now playing when selecting audio from the sync homescreen with carplay connected but also randomly going to audio source selection from the same screen.

My favorite is the blue screen when connecting the phone before starting the truck.

Looks like they don't have good control of the team they outsourced this to... Here's to hoping they sort it out before releasing the official update(s).

Ford has no control over anything with these trucks. Too many issues. No wonder Consumer Reports dropped them.

To be honest I think the head unit is more reliable than the late model Toyota I traded in on it. That thing used to try and take me on the off ramps as well as rebooting on the daily. Also used to tell me to turn right when it meant left. As soon as you throw cutting edge tech into the equation you have to expect issues. They build these things to a budget after all.

I have to disagree with this statement strenuously. Yes, Ford has really messed up the releasing of the Sync 3 Car Play update. I love my iPhone but not having Car Play is no reason to trash my truck.

Consumer Reports drinks their own bath water. The 150 is ground breaking in its technology, including aluminum and the EcoBoost 2.7 While the Tundra is a solid truck, it is old and tired. Made by a company that screwed up not one, but TWO, generations of Tacomas with their frame rot issue. The new Tacoma is a tired rehash of the last generation of Tacoma with basically the same truck, and a smaller and not groundbreaking engine. CR pretty much trashes that truck. You couldn't pay me to trade my '16 150 for a '16 Tacoma.

no these trucks have been riddled with issues. Wind noise. Poor panel alignments Bad sunroofs. Throttle body issues. XM satilite issues. Sync issues. List goes on and on. Luckily I don't have too many of them but have a few. I know plenty others that do have issues. I understand the 15 models since it was 1st gen but the. The 16 and 17 haven't got much better.

Noob question but does car play allow good maps to play thru the head unit on Non Nav sync 3?
