sync connect is included with the 502A equipment group on Lariat in the US. you must be looking at 500 or 501A Lariats, which have sync connect as an option.

 

look at these 2 window stickers, both 502A package but only 1 has sync connect

yea I have the 501A package but they added everything from the 502a except the connect. looks like i get to wait on ford smartlink

 

I ordered a '17 XLT SE. I did not see much use in spending the $250 for the Sync Connect.


I added the VSS and RMU which got me the alarm and the remote access app. It costs $50 per year for the cellular connection.


In hindsight, it may have been worthwhile to get Sync Connect. I believe it would have saved me the cost of the RMU. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Sync Connect comes with 5 years of service. This alone would have paid for the alarm cellular connection. It would have been like getting Sync Connect for free.


Also, the Ford Pass app only shows fuel level and mileage. It only updates this when I plug the iPhone to the USB connection.


So, if someone is thinking about ordering an '18 and wants an alarm, it might be worthwhile to get Sync Connect.

Can the sync connect modem be added?

 

The modem you can add only works for the alarm. Sync Connect has to come with the truck. I don't know of anyone who has attempted to add it. Not sue if you can and if you could it would be expensive.

I think it may be able to be added. There is a modem that mounts behind the back seat. Another member on here may be attempting it. It was talked about in another thread. Here is a picture of it in a 2017.
