Yes the above is just modifying the prep step replacing BD with CD. The second step is installing a full and unmodfied usb of the non-nav package

Anyone want to start taking bets on how horrible and broken Waze will be over App Link? Yes, Waze floated late April as a possible launch date, but Ive already lost all confidence in it; not only that, but Im willing to bet Ford and waze will team up to exclude its support outside of the US like Ford did with Amazon Alexa app.

America support only and works like shi t; thats the Ford way!

I expect Waze to fail and hope Ford kills App Link forever when it does. Spotify dumped AppLink recently because it is just that bad.

Amazon alexa works fine outside of US... for exmaple in Italy. You just have to speak in english, lol

It took Waze over a year to get onto Android Auto, and they are owned by Google! It works well now, but it took a while for it to really be useful.

For the longest time I thought ACool and AuRoN were the same person using different names on different sites but now that you re both here I see that is not the case. Yes, I read the french Ford forums. Speaking of which, do you guys even own Fords? lol

The Canadian iTunes app store has a different version of the Alexa app which omits App Link support. To be fair, most iOS apps on the Canadian iTunes app store are inbred cousins of their American counter part which lack key features.

Anyone else have the subtle felling that because the APIM negotiates different USB throughput rates for some people that the clock speed on some APIMs are different than others?

So many people have so many different issues with USB 2.0 and 3.0, Fat32 and exFat that I think the real problem is the legacy USB hardware controller in the APIM. I think all of our APIMs might consist of different chip sets depending on year and region which is contributing to broad confusion on how to properly troubleshoot our Panasonic made garbage.

Among all the owners on Facebook, Mustang6g forums, this forum, 2G fusion forums, french mustang forums, Russian focus forums and so on there is no broad consensus on what actually works.

The only general consensus I can piece together is that Ford has mastered its "Toxic Hell Stew", (Steve Jobs) and named it Sync.

It's terrible, one apim will accept USB 3.0 exFAT no problem.

Another will only accept USB 2.0 FAT32 stick like WTF is going on lol.

If anyone here happens to take the dash apart on a new EcoSport or 2018 Lincoln, I would love to see pictures of how the new 10" Sync 3 units mount, what the connectors look like and what versions of software are used. It's not hard to imagine those new 10" Sync 3 units in 2019 or 2020 F150's considering Ford loves to use the same parts wherever possible throughout their lineup and the mounting frame is wide enough on current models (15 through 18) that the only thing Ford would probably need to do is design a thinner FCIM bezel. I will probably try to retrofit one in my 2017 at some point assuming Ford releases an updated FCIM bezel in the next 24 months. I'm curious in the meantime what the 10" Sync 3 assemblies actually look like at the bench level.
