tmcolegr thank you for sharing. Unfortunately based on the description that does not apply. Driving down the road the radio just shuts off and restarts. Very random. Sometimes it will be 5 times a day and sometimes it will not do it for 2 days. It is very frustrating because I cannot go out and buy a new radio since there is not a dash kit yet.

 

Unfortunately in my case the two above notices don't apply, my truck was produced in 9/2016 and the problems listed don't match my symptoms.

 

Only documentation I could find...

 

Have you been on a phonce call via bluetooth and it happen?

 

Mine has done it twice in 6 weeks (since new) and both times I was driving, nothing else. Not talking on BT, not changing stations, just pushing on the gas and turning the wheel.

Today it happened at highway speed on a straight flat road.

 

I own a 2013 Ford fusion with technology package and dropped off my vehicle today and the the Service advisor states that they see the issue all the time and they know it to be the APIM.

 

You need the apim replaced. Mine was doing the reboot and after an update to 1.1 and no fix and several calls from the dealer to the hot line They replaced the apim and as a bonus I got 2.0.

 

I had this happen today for the 1st time. 2017 XLT, 302a, 1250 miles, Listening to Sat. radio cruising the highway and sync center stack screen goes dark and then resets. I noticed the channel number (122) displayed correctly but the logo (listening to NPR) never came back. After toggling from Sat to AM and back to Sat, all station info was now displayed correctly.

 

Has happened about 4 times on my 16 with Sony system in the first 5000 miles. Even had it freeze up last week while playing my iPod for about 5 minutes. Thought I was going to have to pull over and turn the key off to get it to stop. Finally rebooted on its own.
