Default Sync 3 Question

Hello,

This is my first post here, just picked up my first ever F150 and have a question regarding the sync 3 system. I do not have the navigation feature, I was told that I could use my iPhone for navigation through the screen. They said that I can see the Apple maps on the display screen, I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this or if it's even possible. Any help would be appreciated..

If your f150 has Sync 3 Version 2, with Aplle Carplay, and Android Auto, the Yes. If yours has Sync 3, Version 1, then No!

You can pickup a Nav APIM, that swaps with non nav APIM, for oem Nav! Ive saw them for 700.00 here in the Classifieds!

To findout which version of sync you have go under Settings, in the 8" touchscreen...!

Yes, by end of year, and you will need to buy an adapter. Cost unknown, date unknown, many posts on this.

I'm gonna be placing an order (hopefully) this week on a 17.

If I don't order the navigation package then my iPhone will take over full duties and be displayed on the factory screen?

Do I lose anything else by not ordering the navigation pack?

Although I have an iPhone, I use Google maps app instead of Apple's version. Will that work on the newer version of Sync 3?

If I do order the navigation pack can it be bypassed with the iPhone version if so desired?

easy answer is not until Apple allows it. It is not currently allowed and apple is slow very slow.

Wait - you're saying those who have Sync 1.0 they will never be able to get CarPlay? I thought this system was updatable via WiFi?

You will be able to get the Updates. Android Auto, will be Free, and a OTA Update. Rumor for Apple Carplay, is it will cost somewhere between 100.00-150.00, and require the dual usb hub in the dash to be swapped!

When, we dont know, Fords changed the date for the Update, I cant count how many times. But, its coming.

As late Built 16s, have Version 2, Sync 3. With both AA, and ACP...

All 2017s, will Come from the Factory with both AA, and ACP...

I picked up my 2016 on Saturday. The build date was Sept 2nd, just a few weeks ago. I do have SYNC 3 Version 2.0 with AA, however, no ACP I'm hoping the hardware is in place and it's just a simple update to activate it.

Odd, I had read, late build 16s had AA & ACP! One member "Said" they added a 2 port usb hub from a 2017 Super Duty, and it gave him ACP!
