sync 3 - notifications
question on sync 3 notifications
If I have my android phone connected via BT and Google maps running on my phone:
when listening to music from my phone - I hear turn by turn directions through the truck speakers
when listening to another source (for example FM) - I do not hear turn by turn directions through the truck speakers
I want to hear turn by turn directions when listening to any source.
Is this a setting I need to change or a limitation of the sync 3 system?
Thanks!

I'm afraid you can only have one source for audio output on Sync3. I have heard that when Android Auto is available that we will be able to do exactly what you asked about.

The reason I ask is my Hyundai Elantra does announce turn by turn from my phone when listening to FM radio.
Sync 3 could do it also since you hear the phone ring though the speakers on any music source, right?

Correction. My elantra does not have turn by turn over the speakers when on fm
But if sync notifies and reads text messages regardless of the music source why can't we get all notification sounds? . Like me email and turn by turn. ?

Not sure about your Android, but I can get turn-by-turn notifications from Google Maps and/or Waze over the car speakers (via Bluetooth) when listening to other audio sources (FM, Sirius, etc) - a welcome and pleasant surprise from past systems in other cars which required me to be listening to either the Bluetooth audio source or the iPod source and be USB connected.
Again, this is for an iPhone, but see if you have these settings in the Google Maps app
Settings->Navigation Settings
Make sure "Play voice over Bluetooth" is turned on; You might also need to toggle the setting "Play as a Bluetooth phone call" to on as well.
In Waze, you go to Settings->Sound and select "Prefer Bluetooth"
