Sync 3 Issues
Greetings,
I have a 2019 with the sync 3 and the 3.4 software version. Within the last few days, the radio started asking me if I want to allow automatic upgrades to take place. I make my selection and drive. It seems like every time I start the truck, the same message keeps popping up and it’s getting annoying. Another issue is that the radio automatically reverts to FM regardless where it was when I turned the truck off. This never used to happen. It’s almost like is not saving certain settings
Any idea what may be going on here? I’ve done nothing new with the truck, but the radio is acting up. Thanks in advance!

The auto update takes hours to download from what I have heard, so unless you are driving the entire time, or have the truck running, it only downloads a fragment of it. Then when you restart, it starts all over. Seems the easiest way to get updates is to actually go to cyanlabs and put it on a thumbdrive and do it that way. I heard the 3.4 still takes over an hour once you start from a thumbdrive, and you have to have the truck on until it finishes. My advice, turn the auto update off.
Try searching for other posts on this topic, it's been discussed a few times. I think there was a previous update that was thought to cause the issue in some trucks, before the most recent update fixed it. I'm not certain because I didn't experience the problem and didn't pay a lot of attention to the specifics.
As for auto updates, they don't download while you are driving. You have to be connected to WiFi, which means you're probably connected only when the truck is in your driveway or garage for a short time after you park it and turn it off. Updates will be downloaded in segments, then installed automatically in background when the entire update has been downloaded, so depending on your driving habits it might take a few weeks. Or download the most recent Sync update from the Ford owner support site to a USB drive, which only takes a few minutes, and install it that way. A USB installation has to be done all at once through completion, which can take about 90 minutes.

This is a common problem that many of us have experienced. As mentioned, you'll need to update Sync 3 to the latest version.
There are several threads talking about it, this one should point you in the right direction.
