SYNC 3 and iPhone Media issues
I'm having an issue with iPhone media not connecting or staying connected through the USB connection. Sometimes it comes up fine and everything works as it's supposed to. Sometimes it just doesn't connect. And sometimes it connects and the icons display but do nothing if you touch them.
I can usually unplug the cord from the USB and reconnect it and things will come up. I've tried plugging the phone in before I start the truck and waiting until after. Doesn't seem to make a difference.
Sometimes I have to switch from one USB port to the other before it will connect.
Does this sound like an issue with the USB ports or something else. Bluetooth seems to work just fine but I always have the phone plugged in so not 100% sure.

My iphone had the same issues until I upgraded the iOS. I run Beta on the phone now. The problem I had was if I was streaming Amazon or Pandora, and I got a call, it would pause, during the call, and when the call was over, would continue to play whatever song it was, with no audio. It got so bad at times that the only way to get it to work again was to reboot the phone.
The latest version on the phone now seems to be working fine. The only problem I have now is getting songs to play in any particular order without getting stuck playing the same song over and over. I would browse to a song, play it, and if it was a song off an album that had no other songs listed, would just repeat the same song. That's probably just SYNC since it didn't do that with the MFT.

I had 10.3 Public Beta 1 and started having a bunch of different issues with audio drop out or no audio on app start until I pressed pause and then play again. I rolled my phone back to 10.2.1 and all has been fine sense. I also have SYNC v2.2
I think the iPhone music players have really gone down hill in usability over bluetooth. I have a big issue with the bluetooth dropping out on the Kenwood receiver in my Mercedes 300TE and with it re-connecting in the F150. Sometimes it will play Pandora and sometimes it will play from iTunes and on a totally different station or album than I was listening to prior to connecting to the truck. I'm assuming its an iOS issue since it worked fine before I got the iPhone 7.

OP, I had the exact same issues you are having. Got to be very frustrating as the only way to fix it was to either pull over and restart the truck or do a reset to the factory unit while driving. I finally gave up on SYNC 3 and iPhone playing nice so I bought the USB hub that allows Apple CarPlay. Now, it connects every time without fail. Spotify works like a charm, Pandora works, everything just works.
I am experiencing a similar issue with my iPhone 6 and Sync 3. I primarily use it for Pandora, but the app is very buggy. Sometimes it makes me log into my phone, sometimes not. Sometimes all of the buttons show up, sometimes not. Sometimes it will play music, sometimes not. Sometimes it will be working fine and the music will stop, but the song progress bar will continue to move. Sometimes it will freeze altogether and I'll have to remove and re-plug in my phone to restart it. I recently upgraded the USB port to allow me to use Apple Carplay, which works fine, but I don't like the Apple Pandora App vs the Applink one. I also find Carplay's integration in the Sync home screen to be a little off, and I hate how the apple ***** force AppleMaps to take over. Is anyone else experiencing this issue, and can anyone suggest a fix? My Sync is up to date, and so is my phone.
Well, my iphone is still showing its ugliness when it goes to an Extended 1X area with Pandora. Was listening to it on the way home, was sounding good too, then the song ended and SYNC said, no internet connection. Crap. That was it, I could no longer get Pandora to work, even after a reboot of the phone. Started the Amazon Music and that worked fine the rest of the way home.
That Pandora app sure is buggy. I have had the exact same issues as LSU
