Default Sync 3 - FordPass App connection challenges

Hi all, new to F150 forum. Hope this question is not redundant.

I have a new F150 w/ Sync 3. I've tried to connect with my iPhone FordPass App and keep getting a permissions error on the truck screen. I've talked to Sync support and reset the system a number of times, to no avail.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Anyone found a way to connect the two?

Thanks

I have the exact same issue. I just noticed there is an updated on the iTunes app store, so I've updated the phone's app and will try again this afternoon.

For comparison, here's what I've got:
  • iPhone 6S Plus running iOS 9.3.5
  • 2016 F150 Lariat with Sync 3

Same problem here. IPhone 6S+ & Sync 3 ver. 1.0. I have only been able to get it to work once. Every other time I've tried I get a permissions error on the Sync screen.

Have you guys tried updating to Sync 3 2.0? Dunno if it's available to everyone (just got my truck a week ago) but the first step in troubleshooting is usually to update everything.

Default The root of the (SYNC 3) problem

The mystery is solved. I have discovered what the SYNC 3 FordPass connection issue is. in order to connect FordPass to SYNC 3 one has to have SYNC Connect. Unfortunately, it is currently only offered on the 2017 Escape & Fusion. I did read that it will become available to all SYNC 3 owners in early 2017 via an upgrade.

I've read conflicting reports whether the upgrade is free to 2016 owners or if there is a fee for it. Hopefully it's free.

Cheers,

MarK

The Ford Pass app will run on my iPhone 6s and the app will come up on Sync3 - and the app on the phone goes into mode where you can't do anything and has some message about how you can't use while in motion.

My understanding is the app really does nothing for the 2016 F150. I *think* it may pull mileage and store in the app but no vehicle diagnostics or such.

I also understand that we won't be able to upgrade the 2016 to Ford Connect as it requires new/different hardware to add the cellular modem.

Must be an Apple thing, works fine on Android.
