Sync 3...Dying APIM or iPhone?
My Sync is exhibiting the symptoms of a dead/dying APIM. No GPS, horrible latency, black screen...I took it to the dealer and was told that my iPhone is the issue. On the way home from being told this, I did a master reset to dump all the stored phone info off of the Sync, turned off the bluetooth on my phone yet STILL had latency to the point that the Sync is basically non-functional.
Any of you guys experienced this? Have any input or suggestions? I'm beyond frustrated with the situation. I feel like I'm being stonewalled by the dealer.

I had all the same issues... dealer claimed it needed to be flashed (of course, I already did that). They did it, claimed it was miraculously fixed, I went to pick it up... same problem in the service drive.
If Sync still does it with the phone disconnected, it's obviously a bad APIM. Go back to the dealer and demonstrate for them.

Mine hasn't done that. ^^^ It has awakened to a black screen and has then taken a while to begin its normal function. Well, as normal as the latency issues allows it to be. I can't even make calls through it quite often.
Has anyone else been told that an iPhone is the culprit for these issues? Seems odd to me that Ford would make it CarPlay compatible if iPhones were such an issue.

They refuse to replace it unless they get it to duplicate. They had it for three days and swear they couldn't. I didn't get a tenth of a mile and it was doing it again so I turned around. It was doing it but this is when they started the crap about my iPhone being the issue.

See my previous post about them refusing to fix it without duplication, and then when I did turn around and take it back and it was exhibiting the problem, the BS about my iPhone causing it started. I'll be back again on Monday.
Video record the issue when it happens, with your ifruit and another phone if you can, then show it to the service manager. If they still give you sh*t, then open a case with dearborn at their 800 number.
