Sync 3.4 Android Auto Nav volume problems
Truck is a 2020 STX without factory nav so I use Android Auto / Google Maps. Pretty sure this weekend was the first time I used the navigation since updating to version 3.4 Build 23188_PRODUCT. Almost every time the voice guidance says something, the volume switches roles. If I try to turn the audio/music volume up or down afterwards it says I'm adjusting the prompt volume and nothing happens. It will probably switch back next time it says something. I can reset it by unplugging and re-plugging in the phone. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have been thinking about buying a Navigation enabled APIM but hesitating because the truck has Ford Premium Care for another 75k or 6 years. I don't want to give them an excuse to deny claims. That might be the way to go if this isn't fixable.

This can be very confusing and I have had similar (but possibly different) issues with the voice prompts not playing on the navigation, but rather on the phone, or in some cases not at all (muted.)
One suggestion I might offer is that the phone may be connect two ways; one via the USB cable, and also via Bluetooth. You might try disconnecting the phone from bluetooth, and then see if things settle down when using the USB cable.
Also, for me there were issues with Android Auto being "muted", and/or with a setting that sent the audio to the phone, instead of to the truck.
Those are some things to look at, anyway.
Good luck.

Hey guys, did you upgrade from SYNC 4 to an 8" screen, or is it still the stock OEM setup? What changes have you made to the radio? Is this the first time you’re experiencing this issue, or did it work fine before?
Have you tried removing the phone from the APIM’s Bluetooth settings, and also removing the APIM from your phone? If not, try that first, then do a master reset on the system.
If you haven’t done any modifications with FORScan, and the problem persists, let me know. If you want, you can send it to me and I’ll fix it for you.

It's OEM and there's never been a problem like this before. Yes, the phone is connected through Bluetooth as well as the cable. It always has been. The only "modification" is updating to the latest version of Sync. Now I'm kinda sorry I did that. I'll try disconnecting the Bluetooth but that would be pretty useless if I can't have it connected that way. Thanks.
I unpaired the phone both in the phone and in the truck. Plugging it in pairs it automatically and adds it to the list of paired devices in the phone now.
It looked like it was going to work properly as it did for the first few turns in navigation. But then it reverted. Repeating that same process and/or restarting both has no effect. It reliably switches from audio volume to prompt volume or the other way and stays there until the next time google maps / navigation speaks. Unplugging the phone momentarily will reset it until next time it speaks again.

Well, I installed Waze to my phone and it seems to work properly. Guess it's a Google Maps issue.
Still wouldn't mind putting factory navigation in the truck. What are the complaints about it?
