Default Speaker configs

So, I bought a 2016 a while back, and I've been learning things about it. Added a subwoofer and enabled the connector in the back. Then I decided to check the grille in the dash, and there's a speaker in there! It was not enabled, so I popped up forscan and enabled it. Did Ford put speakers in but just not enable them?

Previous owner probably disabled it. It throws off the sounds stage according to folks around here. My poor man model didn't have it so I have no idear.

What did you change to enable it?

Leave it off, it sounds horrible when working. It's just a cheap speaker I think put there to playback program sounds.

In FORSCAN, ACM config, 7 speaker crew cab. I decided after trying it, it definitely didn't add anything nice. Thankfully I had backed up my OEM configuration. Oddly, it defaults to "not configured." This probably removes any audio filters. Then I just enabled the subwoofer output and left everything else alone.

Interesting, that had no effect in my truck. I don't think "not configured" is connected to the audio filtering. It's what the default is for my truck as well. I used a JL Audio FiX when setting up my amps since I was getting a lot of noise when running the high level speaker outs into passive RCA converters. The FiX plays a test tone and automatically calibrates the OEM audio output to be flat. You can then set your own per-channel EQ and crossover frequencies. Ford appears to have added bass to the front speakers. I think people think they cut bass to the rear, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The before and after for the rear speakers are relatively flat.
