Hello. I am trying to upgrade my 2015 lariat Sync 2 to the Sync 3. I recently purchased a Raptor 2020 Sync 3 screen with apim and acm and full bezel. I installed the sync 3 screen and apim with my original 2015 sync 2 acm system. I also installed the new gps antenna and 3.0 usb plug for car android to work. I am having some issues and trying to figure out if the sync 3 being from a 2020 raptor is not compatible with my 2015 lariat system? I tried installing the 2020 raptor acm in my 2015 trk but when I did that, it was worse. I would say about 75% of everything is working. So not sure if I can get it working with forscan or if the sync 3 (2020 raptor) is not working because of other possible wire harness issues?

XM Radio shows in source but nothing happens when selecting it.
I am not able to program any presets buttons.
Voice from GPS does not work. Music will lower when it is suppose to give directions/prompts but no commands. then the music starts back up like normal.
Only AM and FM bands work.
I can use the Car Android Player system but same results as listed.
I put all my sync 2 parts back in and everything works normal.


Is it possible that the 2020 raptor sync 3 system are too new for my 2015 lariat and that may be the issue? Should I look for a sync 3 setup from a older trk? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

If I understand right, 2018 is different from 2019-2020 and they all have two more wires between apim and acm that the earlier trucks don't have. I don't know much more than that.

I do know that you can put 2016-2017 into a 2015 without too much trouble. I did 4 to 8 swap with 2016 parts into a 2015 truck with a wiring adapter.
