Default Trans tune

My son has my old 2018 lariat and truck has about 68000 m8les and I been driv8ng it here and there waiting on my 24 to be built and noticed trans is shifting worse and worse clunking jerking and when starting and putting in drive makes a jerk sometimes. Was looking for info on doing a tune to change the trans shift points and parameters. Want a tune for reliability and longevity and also fix the lag and trans shifting. Not looking to get fast or drag the truck. Thank in advance for ur help

Trying to tune away poor shifting, instead of looking at the possibility of a fault is putting the wagon before the horse.
If the Trans shifted better then got worse, would you expect a Tuner to fix a fault that may continue to get worse?
The PCM and Trans control has memory functions that change continuously with age, drive cycle use ,and wear.
These are always in play.
Should check for Trans codes first. Correct any failure indicated.
If none, do a full re-set and see how it goes over enough time.
Then take other actins if the need still exists.
Your dealing with a complex PCM, Transmission and Trans Control Module interactive system..
My ..old ... 2018 has over 85k and shifts perfect.
Good luck.

if I still had a warranty I would bring to ford but I don't and I know if I bring to dealer they are going to try and sell my kid something not needed. Last service at dealer they told him the oil pan was leaking and need to be replaced along with gasket and wanted 1100 told him no way brought to friend to check and it was oil splash back from them changing the oil filter and not cleaning it up after removing it.

I agree with others that the tune would just be a bandaid and won't fix anything if there is actually a problem. that being said I just put a tune on mine a couple weeks ago but haven't had a chance to drive the truck yet. A lot people like 5 star for streetable tunes, it makes the trans actually use all the gears and not do the gear skipping. You can search the forum, there are plenty of posts on it. With your situation I would get the 5 star tune and run it.....if the trans is going to fail it won't be from the tune and you would have needed one anyway, the tune will only help the new one last longer IMO.

As a professional tuner, and as stated in this thread, do not tune it to remedy a poor shifting truck that has been getting worse. Diagnose the issue first.

I would suggest a KAM reset initially and clearing trans adaptives. This will start the learning back over and can remedy some issues. Of course ensure the fluids and other mechanical things are good as well. Feel free to reach out to sales@boostkingtuning.com if you have more questions.
