Default Switching from 3.5 EB to V8

Well, it finally happened. Ford is going to buy back my lemon. Same noise turning, 4th time in the shop under warranty. I pulled a 31 ft airstream with my EB last week to Georgia and back and it did pull it, however I did notice the truck seemed to be working overtime to get it going sometimes. Spoke with a guy I know who had an airstream and a 2015 EB and he said he traded his in for a V8 and noticed considerably a better ride when pulling his airstream. Love my f150 but buhbye EB.

Make sure you get at least 3.55's, if not 3.73 gears.

So what did the turning issue have to do with the Eco Boost engine?
What makes you think a truck with a 5.0 is going to be any different, both F-150's pretty much same suspension? And again what's the ride have to do with what engines in it that's not engine related that's all suspension related? How would the 5.0 tow better with less torque? You might want to try towing your trailer with a 5.0 truck before buying one IMO!!

I consider myself one of the V8 guys and it is hard for me to make sense of this thread. Turning and suspension are not affected by the engine choices that Ford offers in the F150. While Ford does list the 3.5EB as weighing more than the 5.0 it isn't enough to mater. Without any additional information being provided it sounds to me like the F150 is the wrong truck for the trailer being pulled.

Never said anything about turning. My Ford had a turning issue and that is why it is a lemon. Reading comprehension much? I have a loaner 5.0 sitting in my drive right now. Tows much better than the EB 3.5. Took my airstream for a 30 mile ride last night to confirm.

Sorry to all the EB lovers on here.

Towing the 31' Airstream, I'd look at a different truck than the F150 Also.

I think he means a returning noise issue. Not a physical turning issue. Haha enjoy the 5.0! They have plenty of pulling power. If you listen to others talk around here they act like the 5.0 makes 5 horse and 5 foot pounds of torque.

While I don't tow a 31' camper, I've pulled an 18' car hauler with 4 four wheelers on it a few hundred miles at a time more than once with the v8. I had a '14 EcoBeast and now own a '16 'Yote. It pulls fine, but I do miss the torque of the turbos chugging up the mountains in WV.

May I suggest getting a set of Firestone Ride-Rite air helper springs. They are ~$300 for the set and take a couple of hours to install, max. Really helps keep the rear-end of the truck solid while on rough roads and going over uneven bridges. I've made the trip with and without the bags, and man does it make a difference. All of your momentum keeps heading down the road and (while loaded) keeps the ride stiff.

I guess the newer ecoboost pulled away from the 5oh a bit in the torque realm during the latest revision, but old F150s pull campers everyday and do fine. Nothing wrong with a "simple" v8!
