Default Switched 12 volt

Greetings. Looking for a switched 12 volt for my amp remote turn on. I took a meter to the fuse box in the passenger foot area. Everything is always on.

Anyone know of a 12 volt wire that is hot when the radio is on and not hot when it's off?

If nothing like that, maybe just a keyed on/off. I am using audio sensing on/off but am not a huge fan of that.

Thanks for any input anyone has!

Easy way and the way us lazy installers did it back in the day before current sensing, find a fuse in the fuse box that is powered with the ignition. I always used the radio fuse as it was always one of the smallest like 10 amps or so. Power windows, HVAC or something like that would work too. They sell adapters that will fit on the end not the fuse or you can just slide the wire around one of the blades of the fuse then stick er back in.

welcome to the forum. I'm no expert but didn't you say an amp. This amp is for the radio right so Y not run it to the radio hot switch.

Sorry for not being clear. This is for a subwoofer amp for an aftermarket speaker. Just looking for a keyed 12 volt wire or ideally one that comes on and off with the radio.

I believe the radio turns on via the can bus. That being said a quick search and someone used 38

Thanks for the reply. That is the post I initially looked into. #38 is the first one I put a meter on. I get voltage with both the key on or off so I wonder what gives. I thought it may stay on until I open the door, like the radio does, but even with the key out I still have voltage at #38. Unless there is some kind of timer.

Thanks again,

i have a 2016 and used the fuse marked for rear heated seats - ps I don't have rear heated seats. It was either 36 or 38..

I was trying to find the same thing for my V1. Kind of surprised me that most of the fuses that I thought would be ignition switched were actually always live at the passenger FB. IIRC i eventually put the piggy backing in 1 which worked as required but I will check in the morning
