Default SuperCab Interior Noises

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and solved it. My 2018 F-150 will make interior noises, but only in warm/hot weather. It sounds like it's coming from the C pillars (maybe from the rear door) and consistently happens at low speeds going over uneven terrain or bumps. I wouldn't describe it as a rattle, it almost sounds like something rubbing against plastic trim.

I had a body repair friend adjust and retorque the doors and that fixed the chattering noises I had previously but didn't impact this. The seatbelts are resting on their fabric loops so they aren't rattling. I've pulled everything out of the rear under-seat storage bin and it still happens.

Any ideas? It's pretty annoying and I have had no luck pinpointing it.

I have the same problem on my driver side. Seems to be right behind my left shoulder while I'm driving. I initially thought it was the rear interior door handle making the noise but no longer think it is that. It is almost as if the front and rear doors move up and down (flex) while driving and make a plastic rubbing type noise. Very annoying to say the least.

That sounds exactly what mine is--a flexing noise. I was originally almost certain it was door related, but once they were adjusted the chattering went away (implying that they're no longer loose and moving around) and only this remained, so I am now less confident that they are the cause.

How were they adjusted? I had what sounds like the exact same problem, and I solved it by moving the door latch inwards about 1/8 or 5/32". I outlined the original position in masking tape in case something went wrong, but it was a success... no more noises at moderate speeds over uneven pavement. I think that the door was moving against the rubber seal. It drove me nuts.

Did move in the top latch or the bottom latch?

I believe they just adjusted the hinges so the alignment with the body was correct--I had him do it while he was fixing some scratches for me, so I didn't see and didn't ask. I just know the doors line up with the cab better now and they no longer chatter. I'll see about the latches, though--moving those in a hair may be all it takes?

I have a similar issue. Even when the truck is not moving, there's an intermittent 'popping' along the B-pillar. The noise stops when I lightly push along the top-left corner of the driver's door(next to the B-pillar).

Sounds like what I hear, but I have to be moving. If I'm on a perfectly flat surface and moving straight it won't do it, but any uneven pavement or turning will cause it to make noise. Over a certain speed, I no longer notice it. I was struggling to describe it, but popping/flexing are probably the best words.

I used incorrect terminology - I simply moved the black part that the door latches onto, on the door-jam. Again, the noise that I solved sounds exactly the same as the OP is describing. I was also able to make the noise occur by pushing on the door when stopped. When driving, I was surprised at the degree of movement that I could feel at the top of the door, with the window up tight.
Cheers.

I too thought it was the rear door handle making an occasional rattle on mine, but I think it's the pawl / pendulum in the seat belt tensioner. It's really minor and doesn't do it unless I hit a bump just right, so it doesn't bother me.
